It sucked but in a good way..will definitely test your will to complete..i thought i was ready physicaly to tackle this hike...the last 3 miles definitely tested my mental and physical fortitude...the trail was really easy to follow... the terrain was challenging at times...very neat place overall... will definitely hike again in the fall.

Great trail. Gets you way away from people. Stopped for lunch at about the halfway point at the top of the ridge in the back and you couldn't even hear cars on the highway. Quite relaxing. We went on a Tuesday morning and only saw 1 truck on the road and one person on the trail. 4 cars in the parking lot when we got back at 13:00. It was muddy at the beginning and end, but not bad in the mid section (it's been raining a lot lately). Garmin measured 10.7 miles with 780 feet of total elevation gain we parked in the parking lot, walked West on the road 2.5 miles or so to make it a round trip, then started at the West trail head and walked it clockwise. The trail was hard to make out a few times, we had GAIA GPS map running and it helped those times. You do have to cross a couple of creeks about ankle to calf deep. The best trail we have been on in Louisiana.

Being from Louisiana, you only imagine flat , farm lands, cities or swamps and rivers.. if you blindfolded someone from Louisiana and dropped them off here , they would believe they were in a different state

Great trail for overnight or a day hike. It’s single ended so you need two vehicles or you walk almost three miles on the road.

Simple lightweight trail, clearly marked, easy to follow. Tops for LA with just a little terrain; even sandstone outcroppings. Good day hike, or can even be broken up into an overnighter if desired.
