My husband and I have taken classes several times at the North Carolina furniture school and Stuart is an excellent teacher and a gifted artist. We have thoroughly enjoyed attending wood turning there. We have even purchased our own lathe.

I attended the beginner wood/bowl turning class and I came having a couple years of just self taught experience. The class provided a great wealth of useful information from start to finish in the process and the hands on instruction and guidance was fantastic! I wish had known about and taken the course when I first got into wood turning given how helpful the experience was. The facility and equipment used were really nice as well!

I took a turning class in November 2022. It was a great experience. Instructor was knowledgeable and provided valuable tips and guidance based on decades of his own woodworking. My only regret is that I did not sign up for this class 2 years ago when I got my lathe!

I took the Introduction to Woodturning class here, and it was excellent. I learned things, both about tools and technique, that have given me better results at home and that have made turning more fun. If you're considering a class at the NC Furniture School, I highly recommend it. Stuart is a great teacher, the tools are a pleasure to use, and the space itself feels good too.

The two classes I have taken so far have been fantastic. Stuart is very knowledgeable and the school has many options to learn every aspect of woodworking. Looking forward to more classes.

I spent the last two days in the introduction to CNC class and it was fabulous. Stuart's deep knowledge and passion for the wood was exactly what I needed on my journey to greater skills. My head is spinning with the ideas and possibilities. Thanks Stuart!

A coworker and I took a basic CNC machining class here, and Stuart did an excellent job teaching us everything he promised he would and more. We came away with new knowledge, new ideas, and a classroom full of new friends.

A precious resource for both the dabbler and the career-changer. The owner, Stuart, is clearly committed to the preservation of fine craftsmanship, as well as making woodworking education accessible to whoever wants to access it. I will be going back for more classes. Maybe this will be my next career. Or maybe it will just be something I do for the love of it. This is a place where I can figure that out.

I’ve taken 3 classes at this school over the last year and they have helped increase my skill level and knowledge tremendously. They have changed how I approach any woodworking project I attempt. And because of the things Stuart taught me, it has helped me work smarter and significantly increased my enjoyment while working on a project.
His classes aren’t just about how to turn or create something. He takes the time to explain why and how things work, as well as some of the history behind furniture making and turning. Plus, there is the added benefit of him including some of his personal experiences as well, which are extremely interesting.
Stuart places a big emphasis on safety and awareness. Topics which were glossed over in other classes I’ve taken, and this has been a big benefit as well. I have learned many techniques to help me work more safely.
I would highly recommend any class he offers.

I took a wood turning class here back in December and it was definitely the best Christmas present I could get myself. Gave me the confidence in safety and skill I needed to get started. The town is also a quiet place to spend a weekend. I hope to be back soon for a follow-up course or to try something new in furniture building.

Intro to Woodturning was informative , helpful and enjoyable! As someone with little to no experience on a lathe, this class was exactly what I needed!
