I was visiting Osage for business mater but also visited a museum to learn more. It is relatively small but very interesting for those who want to learn more! Definitely recommended.

Beautiful space. Not much to see but, they are planning to expand so that they can have more exhibits. You cannot take pictures inside.

Osage National Museum Pawhuska Oklahoma:

This free and fantastic facility is just dripping with history and knowledge.  It's not large but what a wonderful way to spend an hour or two and learn about the Osage tribe and their amazing and resilient culture.

Unfortunately, you can not take photos or video inside the building, but it is just loaded with historical artifacts that will open your eyes and affect your soul.  It was founded in 1938 and is the oldest tribally owned museum in America.

Outside there is a beautiful and moving memorial to those who lost their lives fighting for a country that took almost everything from them.  The happy note in all of this is that they ended up on land that is  oil rich and have prospered regardless of the hardships placed upon them!

First, the natural beauty of the area is incredible. Next, the people we encountered and spoke with at the museum were very engaging, knowledgeable, friendly and had answers to all of our questions.

Young woman at museum was a delight and full of information. We really appreciated the gallery of allotment recipients. It was special to put faces to the history.

Amazing AUTHENTIC Historical Items and an absolutely Wonderfully knowledgeable guide who we didnt have the opportunity to tour with directly and still overheard a wealth of information about the local tribes. Would recommend over the Woolaroc anyday for ACTUAL Tribal history.

Great little museum- has some very nice display cases of historical intrests. The second half of the displays is a quiet room with water sounds and a long white ribbon that weves back and forth. At first we were confused by this but the staff explained there is a book we walked past that explained it- and after looking though the book it made such sense and was a beautiful explanation of life. Highly recomend- the war memorial outside is also very beautiful.

Museum closed but the grounds are well kempt, plenty of shade for the Oklahoma 95 degree heat and a new war memorial for veterans...

The gentleman behind the desk was incredibly kind and enjoyed teaching us as we walked through with questions. I hope the Osage will benefit from the tourism brought in by the book and movie once it is released. Please visit and donate. Also, please give your business to those that are Osage owned. I would love to see more Osage owned and operated businesses in Pawhuska. I would love to see the Osage Nation Museum expand as well. Please contribute if you visit!

The Veteran Memorial is one of the best in the United States. The campus is beautiful. As soon as I walked up I felt like I had stepped into a wonderful peaceful space. The museum presents a part of history not often discussed or taught in American History. It is a blessing to have this museum.

Definitely add this to your Pawhuska stop. We had out of town guests who were very interested in seeing the town where Killers of the Flower Moon (the book) was set. We gained so much information about the tribe but also fun today bits about the filming as well. The art exhibit of Seven Bends of the River was moving and the curated bronze busts balanced with the photo of the tribal women, impressive. What started as an audible for the day because the favorite stop.

Very friendly employee. He gave us a lot of history on the Osage Nation. Our family enjoyed the museum very much and learned some things. If you visit please donate money as it is free entrance and you get plenty of history from the front desk guy. Sorry I forgot his name. He was very sweet!

The Osage Nation Museum presents a good representation of Osage Culture. We attended a reception for Wendy Ponca and her showing. It is great art and everyone should stop by to see it while it is still on display.

This museum is small, but man is it informative! I’ve been to many museums but few capture my interest by weaving together a history and culture of a people group I knew so little about. The artifacts are beautiful and stunning, but I was mostly reading the signs because it was all so intriguing. They had a whole room about the unique wedding traditions and i was enthralled. Took about an hour to get through it all. It’s free, but you should donate to this amazing place.
