Now this is real Mexican/Texas Mexican food like what I ate growing up. It’s always these small town restaurants that have the best version of Texas Mexican food. Nothing fancy. No made up, watered down or remixed versions of good old Tejano food.

It was breakfast time and I was traveling through, so it was a blessing to be the first customer early in the morning. I ordered the carne guisada with two eggs over easy, potatoes and refried beans with flour tortillas. This is how I know whoever is cooking grew up in Texas or learned how to cook from a Tejano. The carne guisada tasted like my mom or grandmother made it. I went to town on it and before you knew it, I was cleaning the plate with my last piece of tortilla, just like I would at home. Not to mention the salsa verde was hot!

The coffee kept coming and the waitress didn’t let my cup dip beneath halfway.

The restaurant was quiet when I entered but soon was packed with the hustle and bustle of peopl getting their morning started with a hearty breakfast.

If you are ever in Refugio, TX and craving a hot, hearty Mexican breakfast the Tejano way, you can’t go wrong coming to La Ribera!

P.S. They are Dallas Cowboys fans, so you already know!!! How bout them Cowboys!!!

I was really surprised by the presentation and flavor of the broiled seafood platter I ordered. Taste was on point. I did not expect something this good hidden in a menu with what looked like basic text mex food from other reviews. I will definitely come back.

My go to taco spot! Always prompt service that never fails on flavor! Can't go wrong with a bacon, egg, bean & cheese! If you want to experience that won't disappoint, make sure to stop by... Highly recommend!

Ordered huevos a la mexicana. Very good portion for the price. Flour tortillas taste like homemade. Ask for the butter to put on the tortilla, amazing! Clean bathrooms.

We have traveled to all parts of Texas for work and always try the local Mexican restaurants, so we can definitively say this place has the best enchiladas you can buy. Their flautas are also incredible. The service, even when busy, is friendly and prompt. Definitely worth your money.

A really good breakfast. Best pancakes I've ever had. My grandson had an omlet and he said it was fantastic.

This place is awesome. From the food to the service, you can't go wrong. Carne Guisada was tender and spiced just right. Tortillas were fresh. Menudo was good. And fantastic salsa.

If your coming down to Refugio or up to it. Stop by the restaurant. It's REALLY, REALLY GOOD!!. I got migas, Oh my!! The tortillas where nice and crispy not soggy. The potatoes are nice and crispy the outside and soft in the inside. The beans are so good. My husband got Tacos of Carne Guisada. OHHH MEN!!! That was really good. The flour tortillas are home made and they are big to. My kids got pancakes and was another two . They have this soft butter and when you put it on your pancakes and take that bite you just 😍. It's really good. For sure we will be back. The tacos are really good and a good sizes.

Passing by, we made a decision to stop here for dinner.
Y’all.
This place was amazing.
I tried the mini tacquitos, coctel de camaron y tostada de ceviche.
Their salsa was nice and spicy. And the starter chips and salsa were also good.
Everything was exceptional.
Including the staff, they were absolutely on top of everything and so welcoming.
I would love to come back and try more of their menu if I ever come around here again.

My son and I stopped here to get a quick breakfast taco to-go with a coffee, while waiting on a table I made a phone call, minutes later our order arrived, we started preparing our coffee and then I went to pay and left...about to get into our vehicle, a waitress came running saying I left my phone on the table!!! Honesty, Integrity, service and quality food, that’s what characterizes La Ribera here in Refugio, TX.

Came for breakfast. Great service, friendly and attentive. Huge tacos! Barbacoa was fresh and tasty. Home made flour tortillas were good, but not great. Corn tortillas were thick and amazing, but tore apart easily. Still good.
