Park in the bay lot, but use the crosswalk to go over to the beach side. Parking is free and plentiful. We went mid July in the morning/afternoon and had the beach pretty much to ourselves. Several joggers were out but not any beach bums. Water is swimmable but not as calm as the waters on Okracoke. Lots of intact, smaller shells can be found along these shore lines at this time of year. I didn't find any rare shells here but I'm sure you could on the off season. There isn't a restroom at this access so be sure to take care of business before you go!

Great place to access the sound and the ocean. The parking lot is clean and roomy.

Loved seeing the Outer Banks for the first time. Loved how you could park in the lot and have two completely different beach experiences less than 100 yards from each other. Halfway between Hatteras and Frisco, you can find large swaths of ocean front beach to yourself, or go the other direction to lay out in the afternoon, play in calm waters and fish. I was only driving thru, but would definitely come back to spend time here...

Lots of daytime sporting activities in this area. There is kayaking, wndsurfing, kitesailing, fishing, water play, suntanning and the like to be had at this location. I went for the fishing and even though I didn't catch anything (that's how it goes with fishing) I can imagine some times the fishing is great. A nice relaxing spot on the sound side of Cape Hatteras.

The ocean was too rough, so we came to the sound side and had a ball. If high tide, bring snorkel masks so you can look for hermit crabs and other wildlife under the surface near the grass edge.

Great place to kayak & let kids play. Did encounter lots of wildlife. Crabs, horsehoe crabs, starfish, hermit crabs & even a few snacks.

Short walk from the parking lot. Never saw it too busy while we were in town, after labor day. Beautiful view!
