We loved our two night stay here. Big rig friendly. Nice hiking trails. Peace and quiet. No trains or highways. Just no sewage hookups but dumping station wasn’t busy. Highly recommend this state park for $20 night rv camping or for a day time hike. See our video on YouTube, search for freedom champagne

Love this beautiful park but not the hail storms that cut our stay short. Sites are large n level. Will definitely come back

We did not know this park was in Texas. We enjoyed our stay very much! Because it is a Texas State Park, we did not have to have a Texas fishing license. I enjoyed fishing, even if I didn't catch anything. The bathrooms were very clean. The park was well kept. Can wait to go again.

Alot of trails to walk. Great state park. Camping tent, and rent cabins and RV parking and overnight stay.

lake Colorado City State Park is an off the beaten path park, we visited here for 3 night stay, enjoyed some kayaking and the trails. Sunset was breath taking that night.

Beautiful state park with very reasonably priced cabin rentals. We rented a lakeside cabin and it was perfect for a night at the state park to cut up our drive through Texas. It was a short hike down to the water's edge, but definitely worth it.

Stayed there for one night only. Campground is great, with some trails around the lake. The next day we went to the beach area had breakfast and swam in the lake, beautiful! Texas state parks are, in general, pretty well organized and with good signs within the park. This one was no exception. Highly recommend it!

A hidden gem in west Texas! Campsites have all the basic necessities. The lake is fantastic for swimming and relaxing in the water. Great skies for stargazing too🔭💫🌠

Absolutely loved my campsite! I slept right on the edge of a beautiful, rocky cliff & could see the lake from inside my tent. Wonderful views! I was the only one in the entire camping area so the privacy & quiet was great! No mosquitos, nothing biting me at all, in mid August. Only $19/night for water & also a covered shelter 👍👍. All you can eat, big, ripe cactus fruits growing everywhere! Very comfortable shower, with 2 shower nozzles raining on you! I would love to camp here again :).

Keeping in mind we are in a desert. The lake is really nice. The birds are everywhere. Took me awhile to get used to them but it’s cool how many types there are. Rangers are friendly. Power lines are on the North end of tent camping. Not a big fan but now I know. Showers were cold but it keeps me young and vigor. Haha. Check it out. I enjoyed.

Update: The last day the shower was warm. Setting was in the middle. Have to find the sweet spot.

The park team were amazing when we needed to change cabins because of wheelchair accessible walkways. Had such a great time

Nice trail, not terribly difficult (but wouldn’t be fun to try to run). In/out trail. At the start and end of the trail there are restroom facilities. 1/2 up the cactus cut trail there is a road that leads to a fishing/boating. area. If you have littles and theyre not able to keep up I would turn around. The second half of the trail is much rockier than the first 1/2 and there are some tricky parts to navigate. It was a well maintained and fun trail.

After 60 years of driving by this town, I had no idea there qas thus beautiful lake complete with pelicans. The lake side trails are an easy walk and I fell in live with this park. Be sure to stop at BIGFS pizza in town on your way to the park. Their pizza dough crust is the best you can get and the pizza is outstanding. The park ranger was very helpful. Clean bathrooms and showers. I loved swinging on the swings in the playground. Very quiet camp.

Beautiful semi-unknown spot close to the city but feels remote! Lots of bugs because it is close to the water. My camp site was right on the water above some cool little cliffs. I reserved online and it was a super smooth process!

We stayed the weekend and it was great. However, each campsite is pretty far from the lake...and lots of it is inaccessible due to catus, trees and thorny areas. We rented an RV spot. They offer areas all the way up to 50 amp but do not have dump areas at the RV spots...you have to go to the main entrance leaving out to empty it.

Just an overnight stay while traveling but the park was nice and the people working there were helpful. Very inexpensive also for decent rv sites.

If you are looking for a Texas State Park that is quite and not crowded, then this is the place. Boat ramp and a fishing pier. The swimming area isn't the greatest but there is a day use area close by that is great for swimming. Some rocks to jump into the water and cool off. The cabins here are excellent. A/C, double bunk beds, grill and fire pit. I wouldn't come here in the summer if you are staying in a tent as there isn't much shade, but this would make a nice weekend in a tent in the fall or early spring.
