I ordered a pound of ribs from here with some beans. The ribs were amazing. So juicy and fall off the bone tender. So flavorful that you don't need sauce. The owner was very polite and the inside of the restaurant has alot of different animals on display. Next time I go I'll get some pictures of the inside. Very delicious.

New place in town. Covid-19 Updates. Outdoor seatings.The Dark Horse is only open four days a week, Wed.-Sat., from 11am to 9pm.
They have only been open for four months. The menu is limited with hopes of expanding it later on. They have brisket plates and offer a variety of daily specials. They frequently offer one of the cajun dishes as a special.
We had a brisket plate, which was a combination of brisket, potato salad, and beans. The meat was tender and flavorful, the potato salad was nice and chunky and tasty, and the beans were good too.
We also tried the cajun meatloaf. It was good too, with just the right amount of a mild spicy kick to it. The potatoes were the real thing, not the instant kind. The homemade spicy barbecue sauce is quite good. We enjoyed the meal very much and look forward to stopping there when we pass through again.
You go to the counter and place your order and your food comes in the styrofoam containers. The restaurant is moderately decorated, having picnic tables, animal mounts on the walls, and a pool table in the back section.

Everything from the food to the atmosphere to the staff was excellent. Highly recommend! Don’t make the mistake of judging a book by its cover and passing this place up. The outside looks a little rough, but the inside is where the magic happens. You won’t be sorry!

Great food & good people. They serve beer & snow cones with BBQ food. They also have iced tea & sodas.

Great food, great atmosphere, great customer service! The brisket was lean yet juicy, tender and delicious. We loved both the sweet and spicy bbq sauces. Even my kids said it was better than Dairy Queen (our usual stop on road trips). That’s about the best compliment we can give!

Excellent. If you like Ribs don’t pass this great. Barbecue restaurant along with the best. Green beans Owners are super nice and the inside is very nice. The outside could use more warmth. Love this Texas barbecue

As a former chef everything is outstanding !!!! Couldn’t ask for any better I’ve been in town for five days and wish I would’ve eaten there every evening ......Crawfish, Cajun meat loaf, shrimp etouffee Last but not least the BBQ perfect amount of smoke, flavor ,seasoning tenderness and super juicy! Everything made from scratch wonderful environment super helpful friendly staff .Will definitely be back every chance I have if you’re anywhere close by Take a detour for the gem that sticks out in Sterling City

Go early to have choice of all meats, only had sausage and Cajun meatloaf when we went but both were to die for. The sweet BBQ sauce was some if the best I've ever tasted.

We stopped in on our road trip because my husband loves ribs. It was worth the money. Try the pb+j+brisket sandwich. It's amazing.

Great BBQ, love the PB and J brisket sandwich. PB a little heavy this visit but still worth trying , we loved it.. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff.

Smoked burgers, ribs, brisket, stuffed taters, cajun meatloaf. This place is the real deal. Super friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. As far as we're concerned, it's the only place in town.

Stopped for lunch and it was fabulous. Brisket was smoked to perfection. Rib were melt in your mouth.
