Platte River Inn

The service was excellent. The restaurant is clean, lovely and there is plenty of space between tables. We arrived when they opened for breakfast and within 15 minutes, the place was nearly full. We both enjoyed our food. The portions are plentiful and everything was cooked exactly how we like it. The hasbrowns were crisp and my over medium eggs were perfect with solid whites and lovely runny yolk. My husband's scrambled eggs were very fluffy. The ham was delicious, and the smokey bacon was really nice. My husband has a good appetite, but the Honof Big Breakfast about id him in! We will be returning here soon! Update September 6, 2023 This is definitely the best breakfast around, and Kaitlyn was an excellent server! Love Love Love it!

Great place in a small town! The servers were friendly, the food was great, they had a few local beers in addition to the usual suspects, and they even have euchre game nights for the locals to come out. I had the perch and it was fried to perfection, not too much batter and it was juicy. The fries were natural cut and also fried perfectly without too much oil/grease to them. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

Stopped in with a big group, and the host calmly explained to us that they might struggle to accommodate all of us quickly due to the reduced kitchen staff.

We got seated in the back room, gave our orders and within 15mins food started coming out. Amazing, and the food quality was top notch.

Platte River Inn has breakfast until 2pm on a Saturday. Service was spot-on, price was great, and food was delicious. Perfect eggs over medium. I would go back.

Excellent Perch basket! Fries were fresh cut and probably my favorite I've ever had at a restaurant. My wife had the Rachel sandwich which was also very good. Will definitely be back.

Everything was top notch! From the prompt, diligent, and friendly service of our server, Katie, to the ice cold Coke, which never stopped flowing. The decor is vintage Americana, and it had a soothing appeal.
The salad that came with my perch dinner contained fresh tomato, cucumber, and onion slices. I’m not a big veggie guy, but I was devouring these treats. The perch was so good! Lightly battered and tasty. The onion rings were way above par, and all the food was served hot. Sealing this five star review was my trip to a very clean and well maintained restroom. My hat is off to the management and staff of this fine establishment.

Stopped here lastnight for some food and drinks.. Unfortunately the kitchen had just closed but it was after 11pm so I get it. However the waitress Ashley was super friendly and had we not been hungry we would of 100% stuck around. If I'm ever back in the area I will be stopping in for some food and drinks before 11pm :)

Visited here for the first time. When we arrived, we were informed that because of a large party that arrived before us, we may experience a delay in our food being served. We appreciated the honesty, however, because of our server's (her name is Just) attentiveness, we didn't feel we waited long at all.

When the food arrived, we were impressed with the portion size. Taste was outstanding. The fries were freshly cut. The perch was seasoned well and hot. My son's steak was comes to his preference and seasoned well. Every member of my family loved what they ordered.

At the end of our meal, my family wondered why we didn't come here earlier during our vacation. Next time we come to the Empire/Glen Arbor/Honor area, the Platte River Inn will be a regular stop. Thank you for the outstanding experience and great food!

Fantastic fried perch and vegetables meal beautifully served. We loved the sides too. Service was friendly and capable. Wish we could get such great fish in our home town. Thank you!

This place had fantastic food!! It was hot, fresh and lots of it. I had the club and my boyfriend had the melt and we were extremely pleased.

What a pleasant surprise. We have lived in Traverse City for years & have driven by The Platte River Inn so many times commenting that we need to eat there some day. Finally did it & can't wait to go back. We are previous restaurant owner/operators & tend to be very picky diners, always watching & waiting for something to go wrong. Never happened.

The BLT with home made fries, Chicken Parmesan with Garlic Bread (I got 4 meals out of 1 order) & the Perch Dinner along with generous dinner salads were more than we expected. Quite unbelievable how tasty & fresh the food was as well as the heaping portions.

On top of the awesome food we were quite surprised at how terrific our server, Ashley was. She was attentive without being overpowering & she knew what we needed before we had to ask. She was sooooooo busy, bartending, serving, bussing etc. She was the only one we saw working in the bar section of the restaurant. Always had a smile & seemed to genuinely care about her customers. Don't know how she does it. What a great employee & what a positive testament she gave to working at The Platte River Inn.

Not fancy on the outside but the inside was much nicer ( we were in the bar area). I have some challenging dietary restrictions but the waitress and kitchen were very accommodating. Prices were reasonable. Give it a try!

Wish they didn't change their smelt. A couple of years ago, this place has the best mess of smelt I ever had. Went back and it had been changed. The food is overall very good and the service was decent. If you are in the area and want to try something new, it's a good place. The atmosphere is awesome and they usually have some good specials.

Our server Brian was amazing! We had such a good time. My firstborn will be named after him.

We stayed at the Platte River Campground and asked for a recommendation from some park rangers for a dinner location. Platte River Inn was suggested and we drove over to Honor and hunted the restaurant down. As a mom, this was my favorite place we ate at due to the fantastic service and the HUGE portion sizes. We did not leave hungry. We ordered the cheesy bread appetizer and I suggest you do the same if you have taste buds. You can thank me later. Our food was fresh and delicious and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. We had planned to cook the next night at our campsite but due to incoming storms we decided to have an early dinner in town….so we went back to the Platte River Inn again. Main reason? Susan, the owner. Our first evening there she was so welcoming and friendly to us and our children. She gave them a bag of popcorn when we left which made our 4 year old feel like he won the lottery. She spent time with us and chatted about life and camping. Susan, if you read this, keep doing what you’re doing. Platte River Inn is an asset to the community but also to camping visitors. Our family thoroughly enjoyed a hot, delicious brunch yesterday at Platte River Inn! The service was wonderful, our food was fresh, and the atmosphere was quaint.

Awesome food, great atmosphere. Owner John is the nicest guy in the world.
