White sands National park was such a beautiful and unique experience. The visitor center has lot of interesting exhibits, gift shop and a theater.
It is very kid friendly and the rangers an are super nice and helpful. Kids can get the junior ranger batch and get their national park passport stamped. You can buy sleds from the visitor center. Sledding was great fun. The sand dunes are so pretty that it will transfer you to another planet. I highly recommend this park when you are in New Mexico.

This place is magical, the drive to White Sands is so relaxing. I don't have words to explain the feeling, the silence is hypnotizing, you feel peace. We have been there in summer and spring, I love it both. During summer it gets hot and bright, wind is the only thing that can make your experience a little difficult. Sun sets are out of this world, I can never get enough of this place.

This can truly be named one of the wonders in the nation. We visited during Thanksgiving weekend and the weather was perfect as can be. 60F sunny so warm with the cold white sands. Absolutely beautiful. We did this as a last minute plan so were not able to get sleds for the kids, but bought some at the gift shop! Found some nice dunes and we had a blast sledding for a good 2 hours. Bring sunscreen! Also, if you plan ahead, REI has a nice sled you can buy in advance. If you get a chance, want some beauty and chill fun - definitely go see the white sands.

Additional fun info - kids can get FREE junior ranger book at the visitor center and when they complete it they get a ranger badge pin. It's really cool for the kids. The visitor center also has a short movie you can enjoy about the white sands.

A beach without water, so be prepared with sun block, hats, and sunglasses. You will get sand everywhere. We bought sleds there, and you definitely need wax and a good hill to go down. Picnic areas throughout the park. Good gift shop and visitor center with the items you may have forgotten. My kids didn't want to leave, but there isn't shade, so you can overheat quickly if you aren't careful. We used my daughter's 4th grade national park pass and didn't have to pay an entry fee. You can get a free 4th grader pass at the National Park website.

It's a Nationals park. Have to visit at least once. Plenty of stuff to do there from hiking to picnic to sand sledding. Or pack a picnic and enjoy the scene. There are areas for picnics with grills. Park rangers drive around frequently so if you need help or questions. Prepare with sunblocks and sand fish with wax. The day we went the fee station was closed but we have the annual pass. It's about $20 per vehicle or use your parks pass. Many trails to hike and sightings. Portable restroom all around.

Great place to bring the kids. Lots of areas to play, hike and slide. Yes, you can slide just like it was snow. There are sleds available in the vustors center. Don't for get the wax, so you students proper and not become a drag to your crew.. You can park your car at the bottom of the hill.

There is a boardwalk for those that don't want sand in your shoes. There are lots of picnic tables scatter all around the park for lunch or just to sit and recover. Take lots of water, a hat, and don't forget those sunglasses. It's lot brighter than you can imagine.

There are sun set tours and other ranger guided fun. I wanted to see the 23,000 yr old footprints. But they are in an active dig site plus it's in an area shared with the missile range next door.. so noone is allowed out there currently. I was really bummed about that. I heard there are giant sloth tracks along with the human tracks..

We LOVED this park. It is beautiful, unique and the staff are so helpful. We went sand sledding. I think the sleds were 20$ and if you chose to return them you get 5$ back. The sand was so clean. Several of my children buried themselves in the sand and took a nap. It was cool and exfoliating . The bathrooms were clean. The camping spots looked great! I highly recommend going!!

Crazy incredible. Surprisingly detailed museum covering a lot of New Mexican history prior to the advent of missiles. My visit here reminds me that Freedom is not something to take for granted. I am thankful to the scientists, civilians, and members of the military who devote themselves so that we can have a life of Liberty.

Great place to drone and see. Also, plenty of room for big 5th wheels or large motorhomes to come visit for the day.

Sleds are $25 each and they only buy back for $5 store credit. Buy one from someone "selling" it back for cash. We bought our two for half price that way. Then, we sold them to another couple for cash when we were done.

Buy the wax, and re-wax after each run. It makes a difference when sledding down the dunes.

This was such an unforgettable and fun experience for our whole family! Especially after a disappointing experience at Winter Park Ruidoso, this completely made up for it. It usually costs $25/vehicle but since it was Christmas Eve the employees at the fee station might have gone home early and it was free to get in.

I recommend coming a couple of hours before sunset. And buying sand disks(snow slides)from Walmart or Home Depot in the nearby city of Alamogordo. Walmart was out, but we found plenty at Home Depot for $10. I read somewhere they sell the disks for $25 at the visitors center. The kids will have lots of fun sliding. The view during sunset is amazing. I was hoping to be able to star gaze, but the park closed at 6 pm. Pack plenty of water because they don't have any places to get water other than the visitors' center.

We were confused about where to go slide, but it seems you can slide anywhere ,but the best places are at the end of the park where there are no shrubs and plenty of hills.

There are restrooms at the visitors center that we used before going in and I think we saw some by the picnic areas but not too sure.

Awesome experience for the whole family. Get a sled disk at the Visitor Center . We tried plastic bags and tubes to go down the dunes, no luck.
I have been here several times already, but every time it looks different, since the dunes move over time.

One of the best US park, unfortunately it takes a long trip to get there. Don't miss the unforgettable experience "sunset stroll". Shaded picnic areas equipped with bbq. Check the availability of the campsite if needed, it can be unavalable due to terrain and weather conditions

Nice visitor center with displays on the wildlife in the park and both the natural and man-made history of the park. Small gift shop but even more massive giftshop in the back of the building.
