Nestled in the heart of Taos, New Mexico, Doc Martin's exudes an air of rustic charm and culinary excellence that captures the essence of Southwestern cuisine. During our recent visit, we embarked on a gastronomic adventure that left us thoroughly impressed.

We kicked off our culinary journey with the mushroom tacos—a flavorful symphony of earthy mushrooms, crisp vegetables, and zesty salsa, all nestled within warm tortillas. Each bite offered a delightful fusion of textures and flavors, setting the stage for what was to come.

Next up was the trout, a dish that epitomizes the restaurant's commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Cooked to perfection, the tender flesh of the trout practically melted in our mouths, accompanied by a medley of vibrant flavors. However, the unexpected surprise of the trout's head adorning the plate might startle some diners, though it's a testament to the dish's authenticity and freshness.

Throughout our meal, the service remained exemplary, with attentive staff ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. From recommendations on the menu to timely refills of our drinks, the team at Doc Martin's went above and beyond to cater to our needs.

As we approached the finale of our meal, we indulged in a selection of desserts that showcased the restaurant's culinary prowess. From decadent chocolate lava cake to tart key lime pie, each dessert was a masterpiece in its own right, providing a sweet conclusion to our dining experience.

We've been here before and we came back for the food and experience. Doc Martin's has a limited menu so that they can focus on providing interesting entrees. We had the Blue Corn Encrusted Trout and Ribeye Fajitas. Also on our table Wes the Doc's Relleno appetizer. The chilli had a thick red crusted on it. We raced to eat it. The full trout came withe the head and all the scales and fins. Yes, It was all good.

Tamales were hard and crumbly, but everything else was quite good.

The prickly pear Margarita rival the ones at the White Buffalo Saloon in Marathon, Texas.

My husband and I stopped here one evening while in Taos. We tried their Chile relleno which was absolutely delicious. I loved the presentation with the pepitas. The outer shell was so good and crunchy. We also had their salsa and chip. The salsa was super spicy but tasty. My husband had a margarita and he said it was the best one he’s had on our trip. Being pregnant, they made me a non-alcoholic margarita using passionfruit I believe and it blew me away. It’s hard to get a good mocktail, but I am still dreaming about this concoction to this day. Service was awesome and we really enjoyed being able to sit outside.

We had a perfect meal at Doc Martins. The food was delicious and flavorful. The carne asada was such a great dish! Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and memorized all our orders to perfection. The ambience was formal and relaxed. I highly recommend their place and I will be back next time I'm in Taos!

Very pleasantly surprised. The mushroom mole was outstanding. Chili relleno was the best we had in Taos. Mushroom tacos were nice. They had a long wait for tables but had my to-go order ready in 10 min. Really excited to have option for vegetarians and vegans here. Definitely pricy, but worth it.

Everything was fantastic. Chili relleno, queso fundido, and carne asada were stellar. Perfect Margarita earned it's reputation. Get a reservation, because there aren't many restaurants downtown any more.

We stopped by for Mother's day dinner and celebrating mom's birthday. Our server was excellent. Food was also great.

We had dinner on the patio at dusk. Our server provided great service! :) The margarita was delicious and Abuelita's pork stew reminded me of my own grandmother's stew recipe. Warmed my belly and my heart. My husband had the carne asada entree and it was very flavorful. Beautiful setting in Taos.

Editing to add that we came back the next night. Ordered cornbread (just a tad dry, but the butter made up for it), burger, chicken tamale, and romaine anchovy salad. All delicious! Husband ordered tres leches cake, his favorite, and it may have been the best he's had.

Good food, great service and atmosphere at surprisingly reasonable prices. Remarkable one-of-a-kind historic building and interior, recent renovations stayed true to the spirit of the place. Definitely worth visiting.

It had been a few years since we've visited Doc Martin's but our favorite bar was closed on a Sunday so we drove into downtown Taos to have a few beers and play some cards for a few hours.

The bar was very clean, the server--a young woman whose name I unfortunately don't recall--was SUPER nice and friendly. There was an accoustic guitarist warming up in the next room but the music wasn't so loud that you couldn't talk.

Excellent guac, salsa, & chips and good NM beer.

Highly recommend.

My vegetarian mole dish was perfectly prepared. From the gracious staff to my delicious meal I had a splendid evening in Doc Martin's Restaurant in the historic Taos Inn.

Jesús was the best server we could have asked for. We asked for recommendations for every course and were NOT disappointed. If we ever make the trek back to Taos from Baltimore we will definitely stop back in for another amazing dinner!!!

Had an awesome experience at Doc’s. Staff were all super friendly. We were visiting from out of town so they gave us some recommendations of what else to explore in Taos!

Ordered the “I need a miracle” margarita, skillet corn bread, Chile relleno and 3 tacos (pork belly, chicken and carne). Pork belly was my favorite. Would definitely come back.

My son has severe food allergies to dairy, all nuts and sesame. He rarely is able to eat out. I called the week before and they made sure to have several options for him. Really appreciate their attention and awareness. We all enjoyed our dinner! My son had trout and didn't leave a bite left. I had the Chile rellenos and they were delicious!

Stellar experience. Highly recommend. If you are a relleno fan, some of the best ever! Atmosphere is perfect. Service is top notch.
Go. Not sure why we waited so long.... Shame on us
We'll be back!

Don’t care for the new look, it’s a historical place and is now completely ruined. Lights are too bright, only two light bulbs functioning and my eyes were still hurting, don’t even get me started with the chairs and bar stools. The designer clearly isn’t from Taos or N.M. because there is nothing historical left. Everything in northern N.M. is southwestern and/or historical and the new design is anything but that. Zero stars for that. However, the margaritas and food were amazing as usual. So glad they kept some of my favorites on the menu. This new chef is doing amazing, food came out fast and was so darn good. Still one of my favorite places to eat, even if the new look is horrid. Five stars for the food and drinks.
