Well to be honest Morse is where I grew up and have a whole lot of fond memories, some typical for a very small sleepy village. It is considered a billiard and not a town because the population does not fit the proper discrimination of a town which is considered some what larger.

Morse is considerably and somewhat the same as it always was but it is also a lot different than when I was a child 30 years ago. Back then was a time of my childhood innocence and thought we were invincible. It was a time mother’s could let their youngsters leave and run a muck upon the neighborhood and most didn’t know what a lock on a door was. Everyone knew each other and went back and forth to one another’s homes and just walked in. The children weren’t inside eating snacks and playing video games all day like these newer generations. Now days most mothers and fathers would prefer their children to remain in the home doing so but back when I was knee high high to a grasshopper they would tell us to go outside and play. That was fine by us so they were winners with us not bothering them as they cooked and cleaned. My parents punished me when I was rotten by making me stay in the house, now days you care tie these kids down outside to make them stay. Instead they in home playing PlayStation and eating little Debbie's. I was at the small store Morse Grocery a few weeks ago and there was this little porky fella pull up on his bike and do out of breath I thought he was going to literally fall out. When we were young we were so fit we could run across town and not skip a beat. If that kid would of tried that he would laying on the ground unresponsive out of shape. lol! Our parents used to have to basically have to come outside and pass daddy’s big leather belt and tore us a new hide for one reason or another but unlike these softies would call 911 or something and get taken from they family not wanting too. They could get us in the house we wanted to look at the stars and just enjoyed being outside. We put playing cards on our BMXs, we drank out the water hose and didn’t know what bottles of water was, he broke bones and were hard core little fighters. We settled disputes with boxing gloves but 99% of the time the gloves came off. We went fishing and exploring the old abandoned rice mill where we should have died 100+ over. Base Ball, full on tackling football and we hit each other imitating our favorites in the NFL. You would of showed on the field with pansy ribbons you would have been verbally and quite possible physically destroyed, laughed off the field running home crying in embarrassment. Then your new nick name would be cup cake or something cute like that and the ribbons would go in your hair, hahahaha! True story! It was a time for all children. I’m town to go or get it if they had to come get us. And We got it more often than not. that at 6pm every day without fail the old air raid horn since the world wars when everyone was inevitably waiting for a US main land invasion from a foreign land. The horn was super loud and one and all from every corner of the village heard it. And that was a time to go running home to the house and take baths to settle in for the evening and go to school in the morning. The summers we would stay outside and camp or go to one another’s homes. There are even two actual time period old man made mounds in Morse that look like out of place mound of dirt with trees growing on top These are flooded, because of our sea levels being so low, born shelters. They never took into play that when you dig a hole in this part of the state it would immediately flood in with water. We are basically a small village and unsociable with neighbors now and lock our doors at night. Never the same but still a nice small little farming country village surrounded by rice and crawfish fields but the vibe and even the smell just want what I experienced as a kid. We were the last generation of hell raising and tuff, disrespect one of you disrespected all of us.
