I was so scared walking in here for the first time for my appointment with the gynecologist oncology team. First, this really kind woman talked to me while we were on the elevator and asked me if I knew where I was going. I told her it was my first time there and she showed me where the front desk was and explained to the security guard that it was my first time here. Instead of just explaining it, he walked me through security and showed me where I would go up to the floor I needed. The front desk staff? Incredibly kind. They got me in as soon as possible. In a time of such uncertainty and anxiety, this has made the experience so much easier for me. Thank you all <3

I had a procedure done this week at West Penn Hospital. From the time I walked in everyone was helpful. There was no long time waiting. I'd like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and everyone in the surgery room up the front desk. My veins are very small and hard to find but the team put me at ease. They made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Thank you again to all the staff at West Penn Hospital. GOD Bless you all. A.R. 3/3/51....👏👏👏

I cannot express how wonderful this hospital is! I delivered my baby at 29 weeks in the Bahamas and was transported back to West Penn for our NICU stay. From the moment we touched down and I was greeted by West Penn staff I knew we were in good hands. Every single person (from the doctors to nurses, receptionists, security, literally EVERYONE) was amazing. The nurses made my 2 month stay not so bad by being compassionate and understanding. I felt as though I gained a family while being there. I could go on for days about how wonderful this hospital is!

I did not know they still practice medicine this way! The doctors, nurses and support staff were competent, caring and engaging. They did all the necessary tests to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. They happily answered questions to my satisfaction. Everyone took the time necessary to encourage me be an active part in my healing. They made sure I had an ongoing treatment plan - with appointments in place - before I left. My discharge papers had a checklist! Outstanding!

I'm here for the bariatric surgery process, and it's been wonderful. Dr. Eid and my bariatric team have been so kind and supportive. They know the bariatric process isn't easy, and they make me feel so supported, even when I slip up. I will be updating this post surgery, but I feel great right now!

I delivered my baby here and my husband and I were blown away by the experience. The labor and delivery nurses are phenomenal and the birthing suites/rooms are huge. Everyone you come into contact with is kind and caring. I cannot recommend West Penn enough!

The staff at West Penn, from the security to the surgeons have been SO welcoming and caring. I can’t say enough about how they have comforted us. And the nursing staff on 9E (to include my namesake) took extra time to make sure we were all comfortable. The surgeon and his staff are also incredibly kind and caring and down to earth. The hospital room is immaculate….. truly every single corner is just as it should be. Thank you for taking such good care of your patients and their families. Your staff should be highly commended for their work. Kudos to the administration, because staff generally emulate their administrators and other hospitals should emulate you!!

Amazing palliative care team, especially Maura. There are also some excellent nurses on E9 (Heather and Carlee especially) and in the ICU (Alexandra and Nicole) that were so caring and attentive. We also really appreciated the inpatient hospice staff for their support.

I would love to know where I could share more to get these doctors and nurses the appreciation they deserve. As a woman who has had traumatic things happen with birth miscarriages and cysts this hospital has always treated me like a top priority and very well cared for and I’m always sent there when my own doctors can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong. I had tremendous support and care from everyone there. I will never go to another hospital again. I’m so greatful for those doctors. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me and getting me the best care possible.

I was diverted to West Penn Hospital for a procedure on a Wednesday morning after a late cancellation Tuesday evening by a doctor at another facility where I had been scheduled. I was not elated to travel further but was nonetheless grateful there was a spot for me at West Penn. Thank you to Doctor Thomas (anesthesia) and Doctor Akash Gadani (GI) and everyone there from registration to all the nurses. You were great and made everything easy and worthwhile.

Forty three years ago, my baby boy spent his first two weeks there. They took very good care of him. Being so close to Easter, the care givers made tiny Easter bonnets for the newborns. When I called to see how my baby was doing, the sweet lady said, " Oh yes, the Bayorek baby! She's the cutest one in here! My heart sank! Someone had put a pink bonnet on Jacob. After we cleared this up, it was kind of funny, because he definitely didn't look like a boy, and he stayed beautiful , especially, to me.

Words cannot even express my gratitude for all the nurses and doctors I encountered throughout my delivery and throughout my nicu hospital stay from the time I walked in the door to give birth everyone was so caring. I had a nurse who Alowed me to lay my head on hers during my troubled epidural. I didn’t want another doctor because she was so great then I met Dr Robinson also great and caring and really had my child’s safety at heart..I ended our journey with Dr Maccaren who discharged us and ironically was the one in our delivery room greatful full circle moment there…the nurses that works the nicu my heart goes out to you all if I can name a few there were a lot but some left lasting prints on my heart…. Cally, Alyssa and Alyssa Kathy, Debbie, carol😘, Paula, Elizabeth, Susie without knowing you all got me threw it…Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you do…❤❤❤Yeaaaa we are home😍👋

-Moral support by nursing staff when I explained what happened to me at AHN Wexford!

-AMAZING AMAZING NURSING STAFF!!

You will NEVER find this kind of care at AHN Wexford or Allegheny General. If you have a rare disease, chronic illness, and/or are a part of a minority group that gets mistreated due to bias (mental health, LGBTQ, etc)... DONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE. The nursing and doctors at Allegheny General and Wexford do not have the time, education, or care for you!!!!

UPDATE: Dr. Caceras saw me in the ER during a busy night. Him and the nursing staff were excellent. Even though I became overanxious and teary during my visit Dr. Caceras was kind to me, as were the nurses. I struggle with late night panic/anxiety and I was struggling to stay calm. But he remained kind and made sure I was comfortable. The nurses and staff were excellent too. Even when my own issues make my experience impossible, the staff at West Penn Hospital nearly always make my experience with THEM good.

I got a tonsillectomy done here. Was extremely nervous because I have never had surgery and Allegheny Health Network does not have the greatest reputation. I could not have asked for a better experience during my surgery. Waiting rooms and surgery areas were super clean. All the staff was extremely helpful and surgery department was very well organized. Once I got to the surgery holding area I was not even nervous anymore, as the nurses, anesthesiologist, and all other medical staff were so genuinely nice and personable. Surgery went smoothly and recovery process was smooth with very helpful nurses. Definitely would choose this hospital again. I honestly have no complaints. On the way out, I told the nurse who had been helping me how surprised I was about how everything went and thanked her abundantly.

I went in to be induced at 10 pm by 3 pm next day i had emergency c section. Not even exaggerating this but EVERY medical worker that i dealt with was amazing. Everyone was so helpful, nice, caring, and knew exactly what to do or say. They were so helpful throughout my whole stay. Every question I had they had the answer too. They checked on me constantly and everyone always came and introduced themselves which i loved.. They even helped with the smallest things like refilling my water when she saw it was low. They did everything they could to make me feel better and i am so thankful for every single one of them. From the labor and delivery floor to the recovery. Heather and alyse my nurses in recovery wete awesome! They both took such good care of me my boyfriend and daughter. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone. Thank you all so much!

My daughter-in-law recently gave birth at West Penn Hospital. She was very pleased with her nurses, and felt like she had a really good rapport with a couple of them immediately. As visitors, we ate at the cafeteria and were pleased with what we had. The folks at Security/Check In, at the Emergency entrance, are helpful, friendly and very nice! And, I don't want to forget the wonderful gentleman who did valet parking! Aldyn was gracious, friendly and efficient, with a wonderful personality!!! If you have to drive to West Penn, I suggest you take advantage of the valet parking right there at the Emergency entrance. Besides being convenient to not have to worry about finding a spot to park or using the garage, it also costs considerably less. ( Just let me also say that I inadvertently left valuables in my vehicle, and everything was as I left it when my vehicle was returned to me. Thank you, Aldyn!!!)
