River of Rocks

Remnant from the last Ice age. A giant boulder field with a river running below it (you can hear the water running). Fantastic and interesting to see!

Trail for hike down and back up is rocky with varying sized rocks to negotiate. Recommend hard soled hiking shoes and trekking poles. If you make it there, you can venture into the River of Rocks and appreciate the wonders of nature. Find a spot and enjoy a snack and the scenery around you. Kids will not want to leave. When ready, do not leave what you carried in behind.

This is definitely my favorite trail to hike at Hawn Mountain Sanctuary. It's a challenging hike and takes some time, but it it very fun and gives you a nice way to actively spend a day. If you try this trail, be aware that this trail is lengthy. Prepare for over an hour of hiking at least. Also be prepared for a very challenging hike. There are really steep areas at points and really rocky areas. At the end of the trail to get to the lookout theres a bit of "lowkey" rock climbing. It's a great trail if you're up to it! Great experience to try!

Beautiful trail. It is most certainly is an advanced trail. There are long stretches of walking on rocks and bouldering in a few spots. Overall a wonderful trail 💚

Great hike! It took me 2.5 hours to complete. Very fun to step over all the rocks.

Really fun but don't do the 2nd or 3rd "rivers" because those will make you fall and get hurt.
