I knit and crochet kitty blankets for donation to my local animal shelters. DBNY’s coupons and frequent sales helped me build a collection of quality (but normally expensive!) yarn at an incredibly cheap price, essential when it’s being used for charity work. Also their collection of books is fabulous; I’ve learned a ton of new skills and patterns to apply to the blankets - from sweater patterns no less! Thanks for making your vast selection of affordable yarns and books available!! And the kitties thank you too! :-)

I have purchased wonderful yarn and other 'yarnie items' on many occasions over the last few years at deeply discounted prices and I've always been very pleased. Everything always arrived wrapped in plastic in addition to the packaging, which I really appreciate. The only reason I do not give this website 5 stars is because of shipping costs. The shipping charges at this website are significantly higher than any other online yarn store I've shopped at. I continue to order, even so, because I still get a great discounted price on yarn, even after factoring in shipping. I recently was able to use the media mail option when I ordered a large number of Noni patterns. I have no problem understanding the instructions about using media mail, so I don't know why other people would. It would be a kindness by DBNY if they would look at shipping choices first on orders that are only printed materials before pulling the orders so as to avoid having to restock. Love this website a liitle too much! Off to open my latest order.

The selection of items are always changing and I love that. I also appreciate the low prices as it allows me to create more and not have to spend more. The downside is that shipping is a little steep, so I would recommend buying as much as possible in one order. The shipping time is a little slow but considering the deep discounts you get, it's worth the wait.

Do NOT buy from them. I ordered from their website during a promotion after a recommendation through reddit. I chose the cheapest option for the shipping at checkout. I just received an email saying they were canceling my order for "violating the terms and conditions clearly printed directly ON the checkout page of our website (as well as our FAQ & Terms pages AND in the advertisement email you received from us). Nothing was hidden from you - you agreed to these terms by signing up on our website for an account and placing an order". I never received an advertisement email. Now they are charging me a $7.50 RESTOCKING FEE which is more than the cost of the yarn I ordered! They have been extremely condescending and rude in their communication with me. I'm appalled at the utter lack of customer service and their poor website design. If this shipping method was a VIOLATION, it should not have been an option! Perhaps they should notify the customer of the need to change the shipping method, BEFORE THEY STEAL FROM YOU.

I placed an order for books and their website allowed me to check out and complete my order then I got an email a couple days later saying the order was canceled any they charged me a restocking fee. The reason my order was just canceled was because they said I didn't pick the correct shipping method. I called and asked if I could update the correct shipping method and they said there was nothing I could do even though their website allowed me to complete the order. Everyone but the front desk person where in meetings for the unforeseeable future... Then I was told I could call back tomorrow but I would most likely not get anywhere and sorry they screwed up but thanks for that fee. I will never shop here again.
