The Gables at Chadds Ford

I stopped in for dinner on a whim with my family. It was my first visit, but certainly won't be my last.

The atmosphere was inviting, the service exceptional. And the food was splendid!

We started with a cheese board featuring three different cheeses and various toppings. For our main courses, I had the seafood special -- a fish filet wrapped around lump crab meat and shrimp, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was outstanding. My wife had a lobster ravioli, and my mom had a salmon risotto.

Although we skipped dessert (the portions are quite copious), we saw a nearby couple sharing a dessert which looked good.

I highly recommend this restaurant for its excellent service, enjoyable atmosphere, reasonable prices, and most of all, its delicious food.

Service was great. Steak was a little salty but also very good. I have no complaints. The restaurant stays busy so I'd recommend a reservation, especially on weekends. There is no sound barrier between the bar and the dining room, and the entire building is in desperate need of acoustic treatment. As a result, weekend nights can be a bit boisterous in the dining area

We held our daughter's baby shower at the Gables at Chadds Ford today. To say that it was amazing is an understatement. Carol and Jess were spectacular. They made us feel so special and they were absolutely wonderful. The food was amazing. The place was immaculate. We would highly recommend this venue for any special events you are planning.

Friendly staff. Got married here 4 years ago and it was our 1st time back but worth the hour drive. Great for a bite to eat at lunch, even a fancy date night, or just to have drinks. 100% recommend trying The Gables at Chadds Ford if you havent. Ann the owner is a fantastic person and her team! Phillip did a great job taking care of us this visit.

Noticed the restaurant while driving by and decided to stop for dinner on the way home for our anniversary. It was quiet on a Sunday night, no need for reservations even though we made them. The outdoor patio looked cozy and attractive as we passed. We sat issue the dining room which was cute. A little loud as some mentioned because of the hard surfaces and low ceiling but it's an old building.

Our server was extremely nice and helpful and did not rush us. We ordered the tuna as an appetizer and I got the mushroom soup. Both were high quality.

For dinner my husband ordered the pork chop which was perfectly cooked and the apples and sauce on top complimented it perfectly. I ordered the fish special which was beyond wonderful - a white fish topped with crab and a pineapple salsa.

We ordered coffee, espresso, and tiramisu for dessert. The tiramisu was decedent - a lightly sweetened thick cream topped with espresso powder with a few lady finger cookies hidden inside. It was the best part of dinner!

I also really liked the butter and bread that came with dinner. Not something you would normally note but it was obviously all freshly made and the butter had a natural sweetness to it.

I can see stopping back again when I'm in the area.

Service was amazing! Alessandro (sorry if I didn’t spell that correctly) is an AMAZING waiter!!! Super attentive, friendly, personable, and fun! He was fantastic! We went there for a birthday dinner for my mom, and he made the experience even better. The food was also extremely delicious! Everyone at our table was raving about the taste of their meal…dessert as well! I got the Kennett Square Chicken and Ann’s Chocolate Banana Cake… sooo good! My husband got one of the chefs specials that night that was a noodles with shrimp, crab and scallops on top in some delicious orangey pink looking sauce. It was phenomenal! (I tried some). My brother-in-law got the filet mignon and he couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it tasted…especially the sauce on top…saying he could drink this sauce! Lol. Overall wonderful experience! We will definitely be back!

We had our wedding at the gables this past September and it was truly the most beautiful venue for what we wanted. I toured the gables back in 2019 and fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and booked it shortly after. The booking process was simple and the Gables makes it affordable splitting the overall bill up in payments. We did have a few issues along the way with our coordinator being switched a few times but I think it’s mostly just the climate of the world we’re living in today. Our day-of coordinator, Carol, was absolutely amazing. Our wedding day would not have been what it was if it wasn’t for Carol. She truly does make sure you have everything you need and genuinely cares that your day is perfect. If you’re looking for gorgeous wedding venue with amazing food then Gables is a wonderful place.

After a long day of canoeing on the Brandywine and being very hungry, went to The Gables and they did not disappoint! We got the charcuterie, shrimp cocktail, fried green tomatoes and crispy garlic calamari, everything was phenomenal and very fresh. I got the grilled salmon and my husband the pork chops, all very delicious. We got the espresso chocolate cake and vanilla creme brûlée with some cappuccino to round up an amazing dinner. The service is impeccable and the wait staff incredibly nice. Definitely recommend!

It has been a chaotic few months but we couldn't wait the process of writing this review. The team at The Gables went above and beyond for our wedding day. Kelly and Sam were amazing from the get go. Super communicative and ready to answer all my questions. Carol entered the picture closer to our special day, and was incredibly kind and supportive to our vision and ideas. The rain held out as long as it could and we know how much extra work that caused the staff to move everything quickly inside for the cocktail hour. We appreciate the umbrellas (!!) and those are some of our favorite photos. The team went above and beyond to make the perfect cookie table- it STILL is the talk of the town. I know we need to do more than write this review yet, but we would totally recommend this venue as the perfect wedding spot for all our family and friends! I was here for a spring wedding a few years ago and I absolutely loved this place! The setting was perfect and well thought out for a wedding. I think this place is most comfortable with a small/smaller-medium sized wedding. They have a photogenic bridal suite on site and lots of photo ops all over the grounds. For this wedding in particular we used a lot of the indoor locations because it rained all day. The covered locations outside are still very well lit with sunlight and they have lots of flowers, stone and greenery all around so you can still have that outdoor look in your photos even if it rains. Over the years noticed that a lot of venue's rain plans aren't that good looking but this spot does a BEAUTIFUL indoor ceremony. I love that this place has 2 floors because the DJ can be upstairs and we have a place to put all our equipment that's not only safe but out of the way as to not ruin the couple's ambiance. This place is a good cross between modern and rustic. It has that "barn" feeling without the whole place being dark brown wood all around. My last comment - the staff is really good at what they do. They seamlessly transitioned the same room from ceremony, to cocktail hour to the reception. And I also think they were still operating as a restaurant but we didn't even run into any of their guests all day and we were able to go about doing all the wedding things while also staying completely separate from their lunch/dinner service. They run a tight operation here and really appreciated how easy they were to work with!

Great spot close to Chadds Ford Winery. I really appreciated how kind the staff was! I went here around 2PM with my girlfriend and we were the only people eating in the restaurant, but the waitress was very attentive and friendly the entire time. The food was also great, I recommend the Gables Burger!

Super nice place! Met my mom before we went to Longwood Gardens. Atmosphere was great, bartender was awesome, and food was awesome. Definitely try the Truffle fries and spicy mushrooms.

Since we moved away from Chadds Ford we just don't get back here as much as we would like to. Last night's 5 star experience caused us to question "why not?" Our very first question to our server Phillip, was "where do you get this incredible, sweet, creamy butter?"- and he explained the process (it involves a little honey).
My Ahi Tuna and House Salad, which I had as an entree, were amazing. My husband said his Filet Mignon was perfect.
And the dark chocolate banana cream cake was to die for!

Amazing restaurant! So clean, staff is very friendly and accommodating. We happened upon this place during a day trip to Longwood Gardens and had brunch. Highly recommend!

We always have an exceptional dining experience. Food quality is top notch and the service has been impeccable. We enjoy a comfortable meal that allows us to enjoy dining without being rushed. Definitely our go-to date night meal! Wine selection and recommendations are always spot on!!

Went to Gables for Easter brunch. Beautiful spot! Our server Cathy was excellent! I forgot my readers, the restaurant was at its peak for checked reservations. Cathy provided me with readers and that saved my day. The buffet had great selections even for picky eaters. The drinks were so good and paired well with the menu. Definitely will be back.

Warm ambiance topped by amazing food, served promptly and politely. I love how the hostess greets you as though you are a friend and she is happy to see you. Such a cute place--makes me want to have an event there! The menu sources local ingredients, and the food is creative without being off-putting. The Gables also offers a vast selection of wines (including by-the-glass), craft beers, and whiskeys. This was my third time here, because I want to keep introducing people to it.

Nick is AMAZING. My husband and I were supposed to get married at a different venue with 150+ guests but when the pandemic struck we obviously had to heavily switch up our plans. We came across the Gables and they were great from the moment we called. We only had about 3 months to figure everything out, but everyone was kind, accommodating, and allowed us to change up some things that other venues wouldn't allow. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars honestly.

Nick was my day of coordinator and had an assistant (I want to say her name was Katie but I can't remember - should have written this review faster) and I can't even express in words how amazing they were. Fast, professional, smart, everything. At one point in getting ready I saw Nick literally shaving down candles with a butter knife to fit into our wine bottles for centerpieces because they were just a little too big. Like - above and beyond service it was crazy (and of course myself and my girls immediately started helping him once we noticed). Nick and his assistant remembered every little detail I had talked to them about and executed it flawlessly. I'm honestly still shocked and I got married 6 months ago hahahaha! Also they were so lighthearted and just genuinely warm, friendly people. They definitely made everyone feel amazing.

For the Gables itself - Beautiful for a wedding venue. We had the upstairs room and 2 tents out back which were heated and had sides to it. Beautiful for photos! There's a little fountain outback which we got married in front of which was great. The food service was absolutely amazing as well. Every single person loved the food which I don't think I've ever heard someone say about a wedding. Food came out hot, the servers wore correct PPE, hand sanitizer was provided for everyone by the venue, tables were distanced appropriately.

There are SO many things I could commend them on but overall they just did SUCH an amazing job.

Initially I was SO bummed that we had to change our wedding plans in about 3 months notice - but I am so thankful for Nick and everyone at the Gables who helped us make it so amazing that I honestly couldn't imagine it any other way.

Went here with my wife for new years eve dinner. Excellent food and top notch service. Recommend 👍👍👍
