The Brown Bottle

This place is a spectacular restaurant to feast on some of the best pasta choices. The portion sizes are a lot and you will have leftovers. Featured is the fusilli with mushrooms and the pasta with meat sauces and mozzerella on top. Highly recommend this place.

We went there for my birthday this past weekend and the food and service were top notch…not only that, but they went above and beyond when we got home and my daughter realized that she accidentally left her retainer there. They were supportive, looked through the napkins and scoured the booth we sat in to find the lost retainer! Wonderful service and such thoughtful people!

I have never been disappointed with a meal at the Brown Bottle and the atmosphere is the best in the entire region, the place is always packed yet the service is always great, without question, the best restaurant in the Cedar Valley hands down

Who knew the best tiramisu in Iowa would be located in a fine dining establishment located on the ground floor of a fantastic old hotel building converted to low income housing smelling of tobacco and weed? Now you know!

We go to Brown Bottle all the time. It's a little pricey but you get a good amount of food for what you pay. Wait staff is always great and food is delicious!

A great romantic date place. The lights are dimmed and has a very calming environment. Delicous food and definitely would recommend the desserts and the seafood lasagna

Ate there for the first time yesterday and it has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The service was excellent, food came quickly. Our waiter was phenomenal. We got really big portions and they added extra sauce for reheating. Even the water was good. 10/10 would recommend this place!

Has not changed in the 11 years I was in CO, still a very good Italian restaurant & about the same prices as some chains. LOVE this place!

The Brown Bottle is an enduring gem of Waterloo, much like the Russel Lamson building in which it sits. They have a great menu of Italian American dishes and their barman Clay went out of his way to accommodate a solo diner. The shrimp was scrumptious and the chianti a perfect companion. The recent up fit of the restaurant was seamless and it's done nothing but enhance the comfy atmosphere. It's great for any occasion.

Cory was an amazing server. He handled our group with much ease and was very pleasant.

My boyfriend and I eat here at least twice a month. The atmosphere and food are great and we absolutely love the before dinner salad they serve! Hopefully you will be lucky enough to get Dee as your waitress!
We tried Cedar falls Brown Bottle once and it was the complete opposite of Waterloo’s. I don’t know how it’s the same restaurant a town away and can be so different. All I can say is if you want an amazing experience, go to the Waterlo Brown Bottle, you won’t be disappointed.

Have been here a couple of times now visiting family and was highly impressed with the friendliness of the serving staff. The food is delicious and with very generous portions. Desserts are fantastic. Will definitely make this our family regular spot!

They have vegetarian lasagna with spinach noodles! I really like vegetarian lasagna with spinach noodles and have a somewhat hard time finding it. When I found it on their site, I emailed their website about ordering a take home and bake order. They texted me back on a day they weren’t even open and confirmed what I wanted to order. They had my order ready the next day they were open.
When I picked it up, I went ahead and had a meal there too. Food was excellent and everyone was very friendly.

The food and atmosphere are great, but the best part was our waiter Kenny. The man is an absolute gem and a treasure. He made our evening truly memorable. Will we be back for more lasagna? Yes of course. But secretly we will be coming back for more Kenny.

One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. The service was incredible, the food was fresh and delicious, and the drinks were perfectly paired to our meal. We will absolutely be stopping in regularly after this fantastic experience!

I grew up in Waterloo and spent many special moments at The Brown Bottle. Like many experiences of your childhood, you start to question if you’ve built it up to be something way better than it actually was. After moving away and taking an 18-year hiatus, my husband, son and I visited Brown Bottle last night. While there have been updates to the decor and I’m sure the menu has changed slightly, nothing has changed with the food. I tasted my son’s spaghetti and cried. All the memories came flooding back of celebrating good report cards, making sports teams, getting engaged, and celebrating retirements. I cried true tears…and then I saw my son smiling as he too experienced the incredible flavors and simplicity of garlic toasties, thick bread, extra cold salad, and the magic of BB lasagna.

Thanks to the chef, waiters, and host for living up to my memories. Truly the best!

Delicious food! Great service, thank you Cyrus. Cool atmosphere. Appetizers and meal were amazing. We got mushrooms, spinach artichoke dip, and bruschetta. Ravioli for supper! The building itself is gorgeous as well.

Great date night location. Went here quite a few times for dinner. Outstanding service each time. A bit pricey but the food is great and the atmosphere phenomenal.

Very good food

Had a very enjoyable meal with my favorite gal. The Prime Rib was excellent. And went well with my martinis.
