Charming local bar/grill in a cozy storefront tucked on a timeless mainstreet USA in Strong City. We breezed through on a random Friday evening and it was quiet with one staff and a cook. Our server/barkeeper was wonderfully nice, and the food was delicious. We felt welcomed, comfortable, and they were so very kind to our two kids. Bison burgers were great and the draft beer was ice cold!

First time visiting, I'll definitely be back, had the prime steak and it was cooked exactly as ordered, flavorful, tender and properly portioned. The appetizer of roasted brussel sprouts was actually very good (assuming you like them at all of course) and the limeade was great. The owner was friendly and attentive. I like out of the way unique places but of course they have to be good, this checked all the boxes for sure.

What a find! Thought this would be typical bar food but found much more. They have burgers but the bison burger is recommended. Moist, well seasoned, cooked perfectly until just a little pink inside. A burger that may need a knife and fork it’s so juicy. They have a fabulously affordable “ballpark” steak that is a prime cut of beef. Again, cooked perfectly to medium rare and seasoned adequately with salt (surprisingly unusual to get good seasoning on a steak). Don’t miss the steak fries. My dinner partner and I debated whether they were baked or fried. Whatever the method they are deliciously tender inside and delightfully crunchy outside. Yes they have IPA beer! But I found a winner in the red ale on tap which is locally made. If you are within 30 minutes, even 60 minutes, of this place, make sure you stop. PS — Charming hand written menu.

We really enjoyed our meals here. Our waitress was excellent, the food was amazing. The bison burger that I had was perfectly cooked, my wife also said that the rueben was great. We both had the sweet potato fries, they were very good. We would highly recommend Ad Astra to anyone looking for a great meal in a small town atmosphere. We will return next time we are in the area.

Quite the little gem tucked away in the Flint Hills. The service was outstanding and food was great. The Crab cakes were light and fresh and the hand cut ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. A broad range of menu options that would be sure to please even the most finicky eater. Definitely will be a place to return to.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. The food was excellent. Try the beef and Buffalo sliders with sweet potato fries. I also suggest the Reuben sandwich, my advice on the Reuben get the spicy mayo on the side, the Reuben was that good. A nice hidden gem. We'll be back as I want to try some other menu items. Pulled pork nachos. 😋

Stopped here on a whim and boy are we glad we did! Food was excellent, service was phenomenal! We'll happily make this drive again! Highly recommend the fried brussel sprouts with the ginger chili sauce and the Badger Brother Sliders!

There were so many interesting things on the menu that it made us want to return. Some ordinary things turned into delicacies.

In addition to great food bringing people from near and far, the ambiance of Ad Astra serves as an attraction. However, the friendly nature of everyone, especially those who were working, made us feeling incredibly welcome.

Quality food, unique menu, locally brewed craft beers, and terrific service!
The building is rich with history! This is a perfect place to stop if you're just passing through, especially on bike run Sundays!
I personally recommend the Badger Brothers Sliders!

Very good food! At least based on the two items we had. The Reuben uses spicy mayo instead of thousand island but it worked well and the corned beef was tender. Then there was the sweet potato burger. Do not think of it as trying to be a beef burger and you won't be disappointed.

Amazing sirloin steak! Steak fries were more like grilled baked potato wedges, seasoned to perfection. Great chef. Great service and friendly owner. Beer only is available, as the owner doesn't have a full liquor license yet, but will soon.
Highly recommended. They have amazing steaks and burgers, and also bison burgers on the menu.

Fantastic place in the middle of nowhere. Prairie Burn Bison burger was good, the sweet potato burger was unique and amazing! The brussel sprouts are literally the best I've ever had - HIGHLY recommended!

For lunch we had the steak and loved the food and atmosphere so much we came back for dinner. The bison burger is a must and the chicken sandwich does not disappoint, either. Also, they have the coldest beer in town… 28 degrees to be exact.

Must visit for Bison Burgers! I’m not a big burger fan, but the bison burgers were delicious. The grilled cheese was impressive as well. Don’t miss this place if you are nearby!

Buffalo burger and steak fries were fantastic! Could've been more fries, but they were thicc, yet not dry like you'd expect bigger stake fries to be. The beer is very well priced. Overall a nice joint hidden away in a small town.

This was an awesome place! Great prices and even better service. The owner is super nice and so is his staff. We saw our great friends Mike McClure and Chrislyn Lawrence perform, and also a guy named Jake Johnson that opened up for them and he was badass! Definitely worth stopping in! Highly recommend!

The food was delicious! Amazing steak fries, perfectly tender a cut above steak, and great charred asparagus! The kids devoured the red velvet cake. Being served by the kind hearted is a treat.

Great 1/2 rack of ribs with coleslaw and chips. Loved the brussel sprouts and the child said the burger was 10/10.

Delicious bison burgers and fries. We were a large wedding group that they managed well towards closing. Thank you for the great food and service!
