If you like deliciously prepared food, then don't go here. If you like your food and drinks handled with love and prepared with the heart , don't go there. Service was a wee bit slow, but they were busy . Make reservations for sure and enjoy a leisurely drink and meal with family and friends. Have been there 3 times and it just somehow continues to get better with each visit . Save me a table and a cold drink and I'll catch the tab . Love y'all ❤

Fantastic as always. I’ve eaten here and the Fort Worth location. Both great restaurants.
We shared two apps and one meal.
The calf fries are fantastic. Tasted very fresh and the gravy was delicious. Bacon wrapped jalapeños were tasty and the grits that came with were so delicious. We split the chicken fried chicken meal. Plenty of food and was so good. We were stuffed! Must go if your in Alpine or Fort Worth.

We were in Alpine visiting friends. Ate here on Tuesday January 30.
Our server Nicole was excellent and the food was delicious.
I had the Carne Asada topped with Cheese Enchiladas. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.
The pecan pie was equally as delicious

Saw their story on the Texas Bucket list.
We had the Chicken enchiladas, stuffed Poblano pepper and citrus crusted chicken and added the jalapeño Mac & Cheese. We kicked it off with the tenderloin tamales. Each dish had its own unique flavor. All very good .

The food was really good. Our waiter, Andres was very attentive without being intrusive. The onion rings were great with the spicy ketchup. The wedge salad was a different take on the classic wedge. And the tortilla soup was a great presentation with a table side broth pour over. We also had the ribeye and the burger. Both cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. To finish off the meal we had the apple crisp with ice cream. What a great end to our phenomenal meal. What a great find in Alpine. The only regret is we found it on our way out of town or else we would have gone more than once.

Fine dining in Alpine! Rustic Texas
Country vibe. Really cute spot for a nice dinner date while we were visiting Alpine for the weekend. I really enjoyed my Chicken Fried Chicken and my partner really enjoyed his stuffed Poblano. The bread appetizer was delish. Love the interior with the tree growing inside! Big portions so we had to take some home. We didn’t go with reservation on a Friday afternoon but they were able to squeeze in so I appreciate the staff making it work for us.

It’s been a while since I’ve written a review, but this place warranted one! Such a great menu selection - I think I would eat every single item. Walking in, the restaurant smelled pleasant, clean, and was very homey. We walked to the back patio and got to pass thru an awesome sun room with a tree growing thru the ceiling. I imagine it would be cool to dine in there as well, but we chose to sit outside. Out back, there was a great mix of plants, art, and seating that I could chill at for hours.

Now for the food… WOW! We started with the crab stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeños served over grits and the tenderloin tamales topped with pecan mash. Jalapeños were cooked perfectly as to not mush but crunch when biting. Grits were perfect. The tamales were excellent, no complaints there. For dinner, I got the carne asada topped with cheese enchiladas served with rice and beans. The rice was cooked perfectly with a subtle hint of lime and cilantro, the beans were great, and the enchiladas had just enough crust on the outside from the fried cheese. The steak was very tasty, just ever so slightly over cooked from the medium rare I requested.

I would 10/10 return!

Reata is located in a renovated older home downtown Alpine. The patio is nicely decorated and murals are visible on the outer walls from the backward and through the windows. Indoor spaces have been well utilized to accommodate a large number of guests. The food is delicious. We went two days in a row, and everything we had was amazing. The multigrain biscuits and herb butter were mouth-watering. The jalapeño cilantro soup was creamy without being too rich. I liked the avocado chunks in the bottom. The bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeños and grits were cheesy and flavorful. We had them both nights. The steak was cooked just right, the nachos were served with the cheese still melted, and the citrus chicken was tender and moist with a crispy crust. I had Mac and cheese the second night, and it was served on a hot skillet, so I had to let it sit a bit, but it was also creamy and cheesy. We had different servers each night, and one brought everything without asking while the other had to be asked (plates, drinks, etc), but everyone was polite and friendly. Will definitely go again next time I am in Alpine!

We ate in the patio area, cause I had my dog with me. They came and took our drink order right away. When they brought our drinks they also bought a bowl of water for my dog. We had great service throughout the night and the food was excellent. One worker even brought some treats for my dog. Will definitely go back again.

We were visiting out of town and called in to see if we could be accommodate. They got us in and Laurie provided absolutely outstanding service. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. From beginning to end, it was a wonderful experience. The citrus chicken and chicken fried steak were the table favorites. As well as the salmon.

I love Reata! We were in Alpine again this weekend and stopped into Reata twice because of how much we enjoy it. Our server, Nicole, was super attentive and personable and had great recommendations. Even our friends traveling from Fort Worth really enjoyed it and said they would return. I had the sour cream and chicken enchiladas one night, followed by the black bean and chicken nachos. Loved both of them! My husband had the carne asada, which is always a good choice. I cannot recommend enough to stop by if you are in the area. I would try to make a reservation if you’re able to, but if not and they are busy, you can also take it to go. We will definitely be back.

The Reata has a subtly elegant western vibe that I absolutely love. Tables are pretty close together which was great because we were able to visit with the other dinner guests! We chatted with some awesome folks and enjoyed the tenderloin tamales and fantastic chicken fried steaks.
We returned the following week for lunch with our neighbors and had chicken fried chicken, the house salad, and sour cream enchiladas. Food was exceptional and the service was on point. Be sure to check out all the historic photos!

I was very impressed by the level of service and quality of food. I had the grilled chicken topped with Bleu cheese and tomato salad. The chicken was very moist and delicious. The other people in my party had chicken fried steak, which was huge!

We were a party of 5, reservations were made for 4 but were easily upgraded to 5 an hour prior to our arrival… Friendly staff greeted and seated us, we had an excellent waitress, and the food was EXCELLENT. Salmon, shrimp wrapped in bacon, grits, enchiladas, delicious sweet pecan biscuits. We can’t wait to dine there again.

Simply the finest Southwestern restaurant in the State of Texas. Tenderloin Tamales are perfection. My bride pronounced the "Citrus Crusted Chicken with Rosemary Honey Mustard Sauce" the best Chicken she's ever had! Texas Bourbon Whiskey a perfect complement. Very reasonable prices at lunch time. Desserts excelente: Apple crumb with Cinnamon Ice Cream & Creme Brulee!

Absolutely speechless... Cannot believe I found such an amazing place to eat. This was an on a whim choice when we decided to go. We showed up and the whole place was already reserved but luckily they still sat us down. Everything about this place was amazing. I had the Fajita tacos and was absolutely blown away. If you find yourself in Alpine on your way to Big Bend. You need to plan on stopping here. Keep in mind prices are slightly on the higher side.

We enjoyed our dining experience so much that we made reservations with Lorrie to come back a 2nd night. Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. Can't wait to go back again. Ask for Lorrie!

We had the best experience at Reatta last night. We started with the calf fries and pepper gravy, they were delicious. For our entrees my husband had had the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes, he said it was absolutely delicious and loved that it hand battered and not all batter. I had the cheese enchiladas over a carne asada. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Love the ambiance of the little home turned into a charming little restaurant. Our server was Lorrie (she was also the bartender) and she was great, suggested the enchiladas and asada for me, which like I said was amazing. She was very busy waiting tables and bartending for the whole restaurant and she never missed a beat taking caring of us. I highly recommend and can’t wait to eat there again.
