Best antique store in the West. Russ who owns the place, wrote his dissertation in Texas spurs. His knowledge is deep and he shares it generously. He is also generous with his dragons horde of rocks, gems and skulls. He went out back to find me the perfect rams skull in the condition and price range that I was looking for. Then he offered my kids free geodes on our way out. After spending the week exploring far West Texas, including Big Bend National park, Russ and Cheshire Cat Antiques is what my kids talked about the most. And yes there are plenty of of cats to pet on the front porch.

The owner was so nice and accommodating. When I told him I was buying amethyst crystals to take home for my grand children, he gave me two geodes for them to crack! They were so excited to open their "magic rocks "

We had a great time shopping here today! They have great antiques, but we stayed around for the rock collection! It was incredible and the prices were great! The owner went above and beyond talking to us about all the rocks and just gave great service! Will definitely come back any Rome we are in the area!

Very nice, friendly guy working there. Really cool interesting finds, wish I had alloted more time. Was able to make off with a pair of black lizard skin boots. Definitely stop by if you are passing through to Marfa (which is what we did).

Can't say enough good things about this place— it is a MUST SEE if you're anywhere near Alpine, TX. The guys are so helpful, and let me try every little thing on! They are SO knowledgeable. Do yourself a favor and ask them about what you're curious about, because I guarantee it will have a cool story behind it.

Cheshire Cat Antiques was my very first stop in Alpine, and I couldn't be more happy that it was. It set the perfect tone for the rest of the trip. Definitely a must stop! Russ and his mother are so welcoming & make you feel like one of their own. All treasures are fairly priced. Russ was very knowledgeable about every piece in there. You left with a renewed appreciation and sense for all things vintage. A true hidden gem all must experience for themselves~

These guys are amazing and wonderful to talk with while browsing the museum-like shop they've cultivated. Tons of Texas and other awesome artifacts found here! We will treasure our western wear and souvenirs. Worth a visit everytime... PS - there are real cheshire cats too!

The Chesire Cat should be the first stop for anyone rolling through Alpine, Texas. The people running The Chesire Cat are arguably the friendliest, most helpful people in West Texas. Their store is full of wonderful items organized in a way that makes them easy and pleasurable to poke through (some antique stores can be overwhelming when random things are stuffed in every corner...not so this store). Upon entering, these lovely people provided first aid for my foot blistered from a hike up Hancock Hill, they hydrated my dog and gave a detailed rundown of all the best places to stay and eat in the Alpine/Marfa area (and they were not wrong). Plus I found all sorts of treasures at a reasonable price. If you want to experience West Texas hospitality, get the lay of the land, and find the perfect gift or treasure for your home, you will not be disappointed. Looking forward to the next time we can go back and visit with Russ et al.

Hands down the best antique shop I've ever been to! Has a little bit of everything but their rock and mineral collection is the most impressive I've ever seen. Definitely not your typical little old lady antique place!

This place is like a toy chest for people who like old and we'll made items. So many beautiful handcrafted items dating back to 1700 and before. The people that own this shop are also great and treat you like family!

Stopped in this place while we were visiting Alpine from San Antonio. The gentlemen working were absolutely the friendliest people ever. They had an assortment of antiques.

Safe, expansive, knowledgeable, and friendly antique shop in far flung Alpine. Leave room in your car for all the neat stuff you’ll find.
