Front Street Books

I always make a point to stop in at the local indie bookstore when I’m traveling, and this one is a gem. Beautiful curated and displayed collection of books with helpful handwritten recommendations by the staff tucked in as bookmarks in many. There selection of books on local history, travels and nature guides simply cannot be beat. I couldn’t drag myself out my kids out of this store until closing time. We left with a stack of books, including some wrapped mystery books that the staff gave to my children as Christmas presents.

What a sweet surprise to find this gem. We are tourist visiting Alpine and the book store people made me feel like an old friend. The store may not be the Barnes & Noble you would find in a big city,but they have a wide selection. Bought 3 books while having a coffee.

Love it this place the lady that helped( l wish I asked her name) me was extremely lovely she knew about all the books that I was interested and she gave me good recommendations they even have a book club 😊 I will definitely come back. Also they will habe gift wraps for Christmas 🎄

Front Street Books is the perfect small town cozy stop for books and intel on the local area. They host an impressive collection of local history and west-Texas texts as well.

Outstanding small town bookstore. Personally curated but with a wide selection. In particular, I appreciate the excellent collection of West Texas related titles.

Absolutely adorable independently owned bookstore with a coffee shop in the back. There is a lovely children's area too. Great collection of first editions, rare books, and Texan books. It's arranged in an easy to find flowing way so that you can meander at your own pace.

A fantastic independent bookstore! I’m so glad I found this place. It has friendly staff, a large local section, an absolutely amazing children’s area, and a vast array of books in every subject. We visit Alpine a couple of times a year and I will be back!

Great little book shop in the small town of Alpine. Numerous books on the Big Bend area and Texas history. Comfortable chairs to sit and browse, a quiet room for working on your laptop. Best of all, a coffee shop!

Our hiking plans were canceled due to snow...so we visited Alpine shops. We were not disappointed with Front Street Books. It was all the experience I hope for when visiting small towns and their businesses. Who doesn't love a cozy bookstore on a snowy day!! (Or any day actually). Cannot wait to visit again in the future.

Walked in and was pleasantly surprised by the diverse selection of books and reasonable prices.
The girls were very attentive and engaging, it felt like a familiar environment even though it was my first time there.
They have a great selection of Texas, Wildlife, and Big Bend area books if that’s something you’re interested in!

I love this little, charming bookstore. I make a point to stop in every time I pass through Alpine. They have the usual new fiction and a great section of regional books. Big Bend oriented books and history that is rarely seen anywhere else. All that's missing is a shop cat.

WHAT A GEM!! I always jump at the opportunity to shop local, and Front Street Books is a quaint local bookstore with a robust selection of books. Front Street has an excellent selection of current best sellers, but the highlight of this bookstore is the local section. This section highlights local authors and stories, and this section is where I found gems like Tales From the Porch and Valentine (seriously, you should buy and read both of these books!!). The store staff is super friendly and willing to offer suggestions! If you’re on a road trip (or a local, but locals obviously know about this spot already) and are looking to 1) shop local and 2) pick up a good read, you should definitely make a stop at Front Street!

Love this place ! Whenever I am RVing thru west TX I make a stop in Alpine for a couple of days just to have time to come to this great bookstore . you should too.

Cute store with quite a nice selection for it's size and Cedar Coffee is connected and you can get some great Java while you check out the books. They have a very nice separate room for kids books. Nice folks too!

A nice, charming book store in Alpine. The store has plenty of Texas Topics curated sections from ecology to immigration to cook books! If you’re visiting Alpine, this is a nice store to stop in to.
