Heck's Bar

This place looks like a dive from the outside, and maybe it is. But it was very clean (the ceiling fans are even clean) and the burgers were fantastic. Nothing fancy, just good affordable food that you can tell was made by someone who actually cares. And they have a great selection of Michigan craft beer ! Don't think anywhere else in the area is gonna beat this place for me.

Food to be expected at a bar. Mostly fried and quite tasty. Fairly quick to get your food and drinks and well priced. Nothing fancy, just down for a good meal and easy going staff. Rob is a hardworking owner and appreciates the local support.

An absolute must see. A relic gem of years bygone. Rightfully named “The Center of the Universe.” Robert Heck is a second generation bartender extraordinaire. Seventy years in the restaurant business means something people.

A time capsule of the nineteen seventies. The decor has never changed but amazing modern beer and cocktail selections abound. Be sure not to skip extra cheese on the best hamburger you have ever had in your life. Get the Velveeta and have no regrets or food envy. No elevated uppity food in here just perfectly prepared classics.

Small town locals and out-of-owners intermingle to the sounds of the juke box. Pool table, claw machine. Kid friendly, casual atmosphere. Centrally located between Caseville and Port Austin. Five minutes off the beach highway.

P.S. Disregard all negative reviews and haters. I would like to take some of the duck tape off the seats and place it over their mouths. They just don’t get it. This may be the best bar in the whole world.

Great spot to get a burger, drink and play some pool. The jukebox has an amazing selection as well! Next time we're in the area, we'll be stopping in again!

Had a heckle burger and it was delicious. My wife had cheese curds those were very good. I recommend Hecks.

Family owned bar, quite peaceful, staff and guests alike are very friendly folks. If you're not from the area, I recommend coming in and talking to Mr. Heck and the folks here. My favorite place around the thumb.

Did the Friday night Fish fry with perch. Fish, onion rings, salad for $15.00. Dinner for 4 with 2 drinks each total $85.00. Do not be fooled by the outside appearance this place has the best perch in the Thumb.

You have to have a burger here, they're the best! They also have a great selection of Michigan craft beers which is unexpected for an out of the way watering hole such as this. The decor is reminiscent of the 70's which is actually pretty cool.

Heck's is a little hole in the wall townie bar, but they have the BEST.BURGERS.EVER. Get yourself to Hecks and have a burger and fries. Or better yet, burger, onion rings and a cold beer!

The guy was by himself he was doing his best everybody ordering hamburgers he's trying to take care of the bar in a customer's hamburger are fabulous along with fries been waiting for this all year until I opened the that's been I get my burger

GREAT customer service! The bartender/owner had personality galore and the farmhouse ale on tap was so good. Stop in for a wonderful experience.

Great burgers, but you have to try their Friday fish fry. This is a regular stop in my travels. Family staff and atmosphere. Love the wood burner. Definitely well worth your $.

I was traveling out of town, and needed to stop for a bathroom break. The people who were inside were super nice and accommodating. Plus the bathroom was quaint and clean with my favorite hand soap. Upon reading reviews after my stop there, the food and service sounded fabulous. Next time I come up to visit, I definitely need to try a burger. Came for the bathroom, and I'll come back for the food. ;)

Love the Heckleburger!! And their selection of Michigan brews is the best. Don't let their outdated, run-down decor turn you off (although I do have to admit they need some serious updates)--they have some of the best burgers ever!!

Best burger I have ever ate. It's been a week since I had it, and my mouth still waters when I think about it. Great staff and a fun atmosphere. Will definitely be back when I come to the Thumb.

Heckleburger is the best burger we've ever eaten. Great drinks. Classic, small town bar. Bob is awesome!

Came in late on a Friday a couple weeks ago.(we did call ahead to see when the kitchen closed, I hate being those people ;) This was the go to bar for my father in law to take my husband when they used to go hunting. So it had been a handful (or two hands) of years since he has been up there. I was very excited to see a place he had some good memories as a child at. I wasn't let down on the food, drinks or people here! The burger and perch where awesome, beers where cold, and the people where warm and super friendly. I think the cook was more then just the cook because of the time I saw him take with the patrons of the bar. I love when people take time just to chat and have a laugh with their customers! I can't wait for another trip up to Heck's!
