Simply amazing. We stayed on a site in front of the campground beach with our 33' trailer in September. There was a parking pad but the rest of the site was sand. Behind and up a hill there was a nice modern playground for the kids and a bath house. The beach was sandy with nice calm water and amazing sunsets. My kids noticed that the sand "sang" when they shuffled their feet in it. The campground itself is small and you can easily walk the loops. It's nice a shady and a good mix of beach and wooded sites. There are several mini cabins to stay in. The only downside is the road is narrow with lots of trees and it was difficult to navigate with the trailer. There's a dark sky park by the day use area and you have to drive to it. But there's a nice viewing platform. The day use area is pretty wild, with dunes and a long stretch of beach. There are trails throughout.

Beautiful state park. Have camped here twice now & the booking process is very easy. The worker at the front desk was very friendly. They sell fire wood & ice as well. There are a few access points to the beach with a beautiful view.

Perfect place to watch a sunset. Clean restrooms. Hiking trails. Night sky preserve. My husband and I watched the meteor shower here the night of August 12th. Definitely always worth our drive!

A beautiful state park! The campsites are spaced apart quite a bit, there are a lot of sites that are tent friendly. The sites that are on the lake are really nice, if you're lucky to get one. If not, the sites above are nice too for viewing the water and sun sets. This campground has the most cabins we've seen yet, along with 2 geodomes. The day use area is 2 miles down the road. It has a canoe and kayak launch, trails, and stargazing space. The bathrooms were clean, showers were nice.

One of the best of our Michigan State Parks; Absolutely beautiful! The lots next to the water can be difficult to get, especially in the summer, but they make for a perfect camping experience.

Great campground! Our family of four had a tent site along the lake. Far enough from the bathrooms/showers (so you aren’t hearing doors and dryers all the time) but not too far. Beautiful beach and views- shallow, sandy and calm. This campground is also close to downtown Port Austin with great kayaking from Port Austin Kayak, local shops/bars and a farmers market.

Absolutely love Port Cresent State Park. I frequently use the day use and dark sky persevere. Beautiful beach also. Usually very clean area, just please remember to pick up after yourself. Or if you see trash take it with you and throw it out. There is enough trash cans available.

Great camp sites with electrical. There are cabins of all sizes and nice domes for something different. Some camp sites are along the lake and have great views. The sites allow for some trees but not many in some areas. It may be tricky if you're looking to hang a hammock. There are bathrooms in the middle and easy to get to, but if you have a site near them, be prepared to hear the loud squeaky door all night.
The camp office does sell camp firewood bundles one for $6 or three for $15.

Very nice. Right on the beach. Lots of sand. Bathrooms are nice for a State Park quite a bit of shade on my lot. That was nice. Beach was a little bit dirty. Fantastic location to everything in the thumb.

Absolutely amazing state park. Lots of trees interspersed with the campsites so it feels more homey and naturey. Super clean facilities. Stayed right on the lake which was so relaxing and peaceful. My husband did some shore fishing and was very successful at dusk using worms. He caught catfish, drum, and bowfin. The night sky views are also fantastic - we could see the milky way our first night here. 10/10 would recommend.

We had an amazing experience at Port Crescent State Park. The beach is shallow and clean, perfect for little kids. Sand is everywhere, so the kids are never bored. They enjoyed the playground by the bathrooms as well. The bathrooms are cleaned frequently. The campground is next to the day use park, lots of hiking trails, the dark sky viewing platform, the Pinnebog River, and Port Austin where kayaks can be rented to make the pilgrimage to Turnip Rock. There was so much to do, and we barely scratched the surface on our first visit. This is a location to visit year after year!

Don't go here. It's too nice. You won't like it. Hopefully the 2023-24 improvements will make it even better.

Such a beautiful and spacious beach, not even that far "up north". Very few people even during sunset. Soft sandy beach, not rocky whatsoever like many of our Michigan beaches. Nice nature trail as well. Google maps did lead me to the campground first even using the correct address, and fair warning that there is no signal here. If gps misleads you to the campground just go back to the main road and it will be the first public park entrance.

Wonderful clean park and beautiful beach. Not nearly as busy at some of the others. Renting a canoe/kayak or bringing your own to go down the Pinnebog river is definitely a must do as well.

Very dog friendly, i saw all breeds. I was at site #31. 2 motorhomes and 2 tents could fit on this site. Plenty of room at this site but I've been told some sites are really small and/or not level. Plenty of trees for shade. One way paved roads. Some sites are paved, Some are just natural dirt. I did have to ask for a map so i could locate my site. The lot numbers are on the electrical service panels. WiFi is located at the Ranger station where you check in. Most times, me, and all the other campers I've spoke to, had zero cell service so i walked to the Ranger station and was able to make WiFi calls, text and email. There are benches so you can sit outside. I would get cell service and local television channels in the evenings. I was not on a site on the beach. There's a paved ramp to get down to the beach or you can use the stairs, which are located near my site. The beach is clean and has amazing sunsets. I'm sure the sunrise is beautiful but i wasn't awake for it. There is a 2 mile hiking trail, basketball hoop, horseshoes, playground and small cabins for rent. The shower rooms are clean, good pressure, water gets warm. This is a state park so the water is hard well water. Electrical hook up, not all sites have 50amp. There is a fill and dump station on site. Trash & Recycling dumpsters. We will be back next year.

We love coming to Port Crescent with our family. We have stayed in a variety ways from tent to cabin to our camper. Love how close it is to Port Austin and Caseville if we feel the need to venture away from the campground. Many great ice cream places to try out and putt-putt places. My only suggestions for the park is to have a dog run area since the sites are very sandy and lack the presence of grass unless you walk to the front area. Another would be to have the park staff blow the sand off of the roadway, it would make it less slippery for people who are riding bikes and other transportation.

This was a beautiful place to stop on the way home! There was plenty of parking, huge clean bathroom/showers and plenty of beach area to enjoy the water. I'd definitely come back if I'm in that area!!

I'm giving this Park 5 stars not because I'm familiar with all its features but because of its seclusion and rarely-serviced trails near the water-front. It is a perfect place to picnic or to walk (again, by the water-front) if you like quiet and if you enjoy the sound of waves and wind. I rarely see any cars there, let alone anyone walking about, but there is a kind of haunting feeling about the place which I find alluring.
