Shady Rest Motel

A true hidden gem! We were just passing through and stayed here for a night. The room was kid friendly, quiet, clean, snacks and coffee stocked. The owner was amazing to talk with and made reserving so easy! If we come back through this way we will be staying again. Highly recommend!

This motel is a gem! The owners were wonderful to speak and reserve our room with. Our room is fresh and clean with complimentary water bottles and snacks. The mattresses appear to be new and are very comfortable. No regrets on taking a chance on this place!

Traveling for work, I’m usually in a different hotel room every night. It’s not very often I come across a gem like this place! The staff are wonderful. The rooms are amazing. Some of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on. And the value can’t be beat! I’ve had the opportunity to stay on two different occasions, and will stay again the next time I come through town!

I am a traveler and the roads were too icy to make it to my next destination. I called and Brian said he had a room available. I couldn’t have imagined a better experience at this motel! Cozy rooms, very comfortable bed, several towels, everything felt clean!

Nice cozy place to stay for area hunter, fishermen or travelers just passing through. Owners and caretakers are extremely friendly. Rooms are very clean, updated and plenty spacious. A vending area is on premises. A grocery store is across the street and a convenient store is a short walk just 2 blocks away.

Brought the wife and kids for a little get away to Lake McConaughey a few months ago and I forgot to write up a review of how excellent this stay was! It was a little home away from home for all of us! The kids enjoyed their room, while the wife and I got to get away and loved ours! The service was excellent and the staff instantly made us feel safe and at home. I can't recommend this place enough for a family or even a large group of your friends. Thank You Shady Rest!

Brought my family on a summer vacation to Lake Mac. Was dissatisfied by the places to stay closer to the lake. Somehow I came across this place. I couldn't be happier! This is now my go-to place. Check-in process was smooth. Rooms were very nice and clean, and the staff couldn't have been better, particularly Kelly. She was super friendly and was responsive to any questions we had. We felt like we were staying with family, not just another customer.

Our family LOVES this little motel. This has forever changed our route to visiting family, as we will always be going through Oshkosh and making a stop here. We came by late and received great service, quiet and CLEAN rooms, a soft bed with clean linens, cable TV, a great bathroom, and it was even just up the road from the local bar/restaurant, The Chubby Rhino. I cannot tout their praises enough!

Generally expect less than stellar accommodations when going to a small town, especially when prices are as affordable as this was, so I pleasantly surprised to be wrong this time! Room was all about comfort and so clean!!! I'll be back definitely!

We have stayed in many motels during our road trip, and this one was by far the best one we’ve ever stayed at. It has such a great atmosphere, it was like staying at a family house. The rooms are big and extraordinary clean, all furniture and everything in the room looks new and taken care of. I am truly surprised this place has such an affordable price, it’s comparable to $160+/night hotel rooms we’ve stayed at in the past. It is really a hidden gem! As a huge plus, they also have a dog living on the premises, and they allow dogs in the rooms. Even with dogs and lots of hunters staying here with their hunting gear, they manage to keep the carpets super clean, the carpet literally looked new or at least freshly cleaned in our room. Maggie (the manager) is the sweetest person ever, it was such a pleasure dealing with her! I can honestly go on and on about how great this place is. I’ve never seen such a high quality motel, HIGHLY recommend!

Night 1 of a weeklong motorcycle vacation found this place. Very friendly ownership, impeccably clean rooms, great decor, perfect location on highway and within a short walk of groceries/dining. All at a great price. Enjoyed it so much, I told the owner to expect me back on my final vacation overnight five days later. I love riding through the Nebraska panhandle, and this has become my choice for lodging when doing so. EDIT: New owners, same GREAT place a year later!

Stayed here for our wedding and had good service and great staff! They were very friendly and easy to work with. Would recommend staying here to anyone who needs a nice place in Oshkosh. Thanks shady rest and crew!

Ultra clean rooms and comfortable stay. The showers were super clean and walk in with good water pressure. The motel was updated within the last 10 years or so, for it was not how I remembered it looking when I was younger and living in the town. Maggie and her "guard dog" are extremely pleasant to be around and they make the mornings that much better, seeing them out and about checking on rooms. They make you feel like you are at home and part of the family. Will for sure stay there again when back for a visit and recommend others to stay here as well.

This motel was wonderful for our one night stay. Recently renovated. Restaurant, grocery store and park within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again!

This is such a great place; the manager is a very nice and really fun woman, and very helpful and made everything perfect. The rooms were clean and well kept, they had the nicest carpet I've ever seen in a hotel. The price was amazing !

We stayed at the motel for a night. Maggie was extremely helpful answering all my questions about what to do and where to eat in town. The room was spacious, functional and clean, and the price was very reasonable. The laundry room was an extra convenience. For Oshkosh, we couldn't have asked for a better host than Maggie nor a better place to stay than Shady Rest!
