Sun & Sand Motel

SO GOOD. I've been twice so far and will for sure go many more times. The chocolate shake was awesome, as was the four cheese grilled cheese . The booths are small, but it is an old restaurant so it's to be expected. Worth the drive and the money.

It was a dreary place

I've been planing my family trip from California to Colorado, so seeing the neon sign of the Sun N' Sand Motel was quite a sight, and very welcoming. At first my family was very happy to be at a clasic route 66 motel , but once we walked in to the lobby and it all went down hill, the owner/woman would not come out from behind a wall with a 3 by 4 window carved out of it and when we asked for recommendations of places to go in town she very ruddily sent us to the restaurant across the street. The owners of the restaurant were very helpful. They agreed that the owner the Sun N' Sand was very rude. After a great meal and service we went back to the lobby to book another night so we could explore the area. She wasn't clear on what we wanted after being clear that we wanted another night. She told us "ok, I will get you one more room, and how many people will their be?" When we booked the first room we said only 5 people and one room, why would we have more people, and need 2 rooms? She finally understood us and we got what we wanted. While she was booking my new night I was signaling for my 4 year old to keep his feet off the couch, I put my hand on the glass table and it FLIPED OVER on to the floor! All she asked was is it broken and we said no, I was more worried that the kids were ok, I picked up the glass and the legs and re-set it, and found it was very unstable. After a good long minute she did not come out. I thought she would come out to see what happened but she didn't so we yelled into the window and said sorry and goodbye very nicely. We walked back into our room and noticed we didn't have any ice, we didn't want to go back so we went into the restaurant and they gladly gave us a lot of ice. Once we got back to the room our 9 year old ran out of the one roll of toilet paper, so we went to the lobby with the rude lady and we began to apologize for the table and she yelled at us saying "Who is it, do you want room!!! What do you want, what do you want" all from behind the wall. She gave us out toilet paper and we ran out of the lobby. This all happened with in the first hour of our stay. The refrigerator and remote don't work, rooms are clean, outside needs some fixing-up. Its an ok motel, good price, good restaurant, Bad motel service. Go to the restaurant, not the motel.

The sandwitch is baby size with 1 slice of beef. Wtf. The service is horrible.
