What a campground, full hookup in a state park, and at a great price. We did have a bear visit the camper overnight, no issues I did as instructed and made sure all food items were put away. Did some hiking. However, trails had water above ankle deep. Nice laundry facility at the bath houses. Would recommend for a getaway, a bit of a drive to any services.

We stayed here at site 12 for 14 days! We absolutely loved this park. The bathrooms are awesome, warm & super clean. There are laundry facilities in both bathhouses. We didn’t use the bathrooms often as each site has full hookups. We enjoyed riding our bikes to the boat launch most days. Only wish there were more trails.

This place is absolutely beautiful. You will not get the parking lot feel at this campground!! Love all the trees. We biked, kayaked, walked our dogs, and relaxed! Also visited the Tabasco plant which was about 45 minutes away. This campground will be a must to go back to. Ate at a couple awesome restaurants too.

Very nice campground. All the facilities were extremely clean and well-maintained. Of course all the palmettos were beautiful! There were definitely bears around our tent at night, but we were smart about food (not having it in the tent) and they didn’t bother us. We took the lagoon hiking trail in the morning - it was lovely.

What a beautiful park. The sites are somewhat private from each other instead of being close together. Bathrooms are always clean. This is easily one of the prettiest state parks in LouisianaLots of birds, they do have active bears in the park, so be aware, and of course alligators.

The park is so beautiful and relaxing! Excellent customer service and clean bathrooms. You might even get to see some wild hogs, deer, and other wildlife. Get out and enjoy the outdoors! Put Palmetto on your travel destination map!!!

I'd stay here again but not on a holiday weekend. This place was SO FUN! Fishing, hiking, picnic, biking, boating...fun, fun, fun!!! Full hook ups to so bonus! And a laundry! Roads are atrocious though. Abbeville is nearest town. Good food there at Shucks and we ordered Dominoes one night. Fastest pizza ever, lol. Walmart and Super 1 for groceries. Neat town.

Clean, manicured park. Very interesting flora and fauna. Loved the palms. We're from the Midwest, so there were a lot of different things to see. Avery Island is beautiful. The trees! Lots of old, gnarled, moss laden trees on Avery and throughout the area. Darn....we did not see even one alligator !

Gorgeous, peaceful campground. Very clean and comfortable bath house. All of the park staff we interacted with were welcoming and helpful, going above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful. Mind your draft if you use the boat ramp, as it isn't dredged. ;)

We camped twice in January. Each site is so private it was upgraded from just a few sites with full hookups and now practically all of them have full hookups only issue was trash. The dumpsters were closed and no trash cans in the campground. I guess blk bear prevention. We overall love this park!

Excellent canoe trail, fun fishing spots, and the cabins are cozy and fully furnished with every thing you need. A little light on regular trails but that is to be expected in a location like this. Lots of wildlife to see. Fantastic state park! We will be returning to this one again.

Large private RV sites which are level with gravel for your rig and a cement pad for the picnic table. Fire ring is set to the back and the water hook-up has great pressure. No issues with 30amp electricity & Verizon comes through with 3-4 bars. There's a 2 lane dump station near the entrance so no wait lines. There's also 2 laundry facilities; both clean, good working order and reasonably priced. The park has a lot to offer the family camper with a nature center, splash pad, two ponds and many pavilion picnic and fishing areas. We're enjoying the hard packed gravel nature paths and long bike rides on the paved roads. We were told the canoe run is riddled with logs right now so we skipped it but I bet this place is booming in the summer!

We booked this park on our trip to the Southwest. What a find! large level campsites with electric and water, clean warm shower and restroom facilities and free laundry. The cabins looked to be modern and well appointed. Free WIFI throughout the campground and two bars of Verizon service. I expect the mosquitos could be bad in the warmer seasons, January no problems.

Husband and I enjoyed staying here! Quiet and secluded, so little to no cell service. If you're not worried about that, a great place to camp. We went to the pond and saw a gator and also had a "run-in" with the wild hog sow with her babies. She was a little too curious, so we had to scare her off using the car alarm. She kept her distance after that. An armadillo wandered around our site and didn't give a hoot about us. Great bath/laundry facilities if you need them.

I absolutely LOVE Palmetto! It so peaceful along the trails and camping is so much fun. Tents and RVs welcome. I love the lake and even caught sockolet and alligator sightings are always exciting. The wildlife and beautiful scenery make for great photos or sketching. The splash pad is also great for hot summer days and cool water fun, but bring sunscreen! 10/10 and 5/5 stars HIGHLY RECOMMEND
