Pecos County Memorial Hospital

We had an incredible weekend at Big Bend National Park. On our last hike to Santa Elena Canyon, there was a downed tree. We all took a high step to go over it and I accidentally hit a knot on the tree that lacerated my skin. I started bleeding and it was evident that I was going to need stitches.

We packed up our campsite and made the 2 hour drive to Fort Stockton. All urgent cares were closed on a Sunday evening. At the recommendation of a friend, we went to Pecos County Memorial Hospital. The staff were courteous, the nurse was funny and compassionate. The doctor was thorough in explaining what was going to be happening next. He stitched me up with zero pain and sent me back to my family. Thank you Dr. Peterson and team for taking good care of me and getting me back to my family. I know there is a medical staff shortage. I am thankful for the incredible team that was able to provide me with the necessary care in my time of need.

I was rushed up from Terlingua with a heart problem. I barely gave my name to the receptionist in the emergency lobby before someone took me back to a room. Within minutes I was surrounded by an A team of guys who were admirably efficient, knowledgeable and professional. I cannot believe we have a facility this good, this close to Big Bend. Their doctors and techs and nurses were all compassionate, and efficient. They did what they said they would, when they said they would . The room was clean and quiet and everything worked. Dr Cecil George runs the place like a benevolent medical grandpa, and you couldn't have a better medical ally. I felt safe and confident knowing I was in a real hospital, that cared about human beings, not a "business." I love this place.

My husband and I are only visitors to this town. However, while here my husband did go to the ER last yr., and we currently go to the gym here. Every person we have encountered (so far), have been very courteous, smiling, and helpful. Inside and outside is very clean. The gym is clean, neat, and affordable. Oh, and all of the equipment works! Somewhat small, but the friendliness and cleanliness and affordability are priceless! If only I could say the same about the local restaurants and department stores here....

I am so greatful for the staff at PCMH and Dr. George. Today was a rough day for my family. My mom had to go see her specialist in Lubbock and then was sent home after being told that everything was normal. Driver he home and continued to worry and call Dr. George who told us to take her to the ER. The medical team at the ER at PCMH caught am infection that her specialist didnt. It lead to another surgery for my mom unfortunately, but had they not caught what the other should have we would be in a much else situation. Thank you!!!!!!

After receiving my COVID-19 vaccine today at the Pecos County Civic Center - - I just had to post a review immediately! I was so impressed with our hospital and health care professionals administering the vaccine today. The process was quick, professional & and most of all EVERYONE was so friendly, courteous & helpful ❤! A big shout out to PCMH and all those affiliated with making my COVID-19 vaccine experience a great one. Lastly, I can't forget the joint effort with our local law enforcement - - great job!!😍

I visited the emergency care of this facility as a result of a knee injury while on vacation. Staff was attentive, kind, efficient and helpful. They stabilized the injury, promptly provided a diagnosis and sent me on my way. Thanks so much for your help.

They are nice And caring they really know what they ARE DOING I MUST SAY BOYD IS AWSOME HAS COMPASSION AND IS ALWAYS Professional,Dr.Puri is also a Great doctor and the newest member who I recently meet was Doctor Chad Luis I really think he will do more than Great there Puri is no longer there Great loss but the Gain of A NEW DR.CHAD LEWIS GREAT JOB STAFF.

A doctor sent me to this hospital to get my blood drawn. I walked into the entrance, picked a number and took a seat. My number was 49. I saw the number they were servicing was at 48 and no one was being helped. I waited, and finally they called 49, even though no one was being helped. Anyways, long story short, the staff was very rude and told me I need to carry my physical insurance card. I told her I have my card on my phone. It a digital card that blue cross provides on the app. She gave me hell about it and I asked if it was policy. She didn’t want to answer that. I asked her if she was going to refuse me service since I don’t have the physical card. She said no. Her co worker joined her argument with me insisting that I needed to have my physical insurance card. I again asked to see, in writing, where it shows I need to have the card. Just horrible people. I’m glad it was just a blood draw. The manager I spoke with was nice. But I can see why this hospital has such horrible reviews.

Update: the manager instead handled my paper work. She even called to check on me. I appreciated that.

Made an appointment 2 weeks ahead, still had to wait. It was just for a shot at 9:15am and it took til 10am( Wasn't the worst waiting time). It's like no one is keeping track of anything.

Also the doctors here don't know anything. I got injured at work and my foot was in pain. The doctor gave me pills and that's it. Didn't work for s**t and it was just a jammed toe that my brother help it unjammed.

Good luck get basic care and be careful of what they give you.

If i could id leave no stars i went to er and was treated horribly i was in alot of pain crying n agonizing pain all i could here was them laughing n chatting away not paying no mind to me asking them for help my son asked them too and they told him theyd be there 2 hrs went by until finally i got taken back after throwing up and crying from pain then to top it of the dr on call that night made me feel like if i was a crack head just ran into my room talking rudely bout i cant write u prescription for narcotics i can loose my license i was like im here because im in alot of pain not for prescription of narcotics her name was dr sadani or something like una india fea la wey

I would give the ER a 0 if it had it I took my 16 month to the ER because she was yelling in pain and throwing up she also was red i told them i assumed she got into hot sauce but I wasn’t 100% sure in all the time I was there the nurse and dr was super rude the nurse looked at me and said that I did wrong for overreacting in bring her to the ER over hot sauce I don’t know if they need more training or what but don’t ever tell a mother that she overreaching do your job and that’s it

I tested positive for Covid-19 feeling completely horrible high heart rate the first 2 days and was still released I passed out and was taken by ambulance yesterday it was my 3rd time in a row going and they STILL LET ME GO I’ve been asking to be hospitalized because I know my body best and I know I need help! But they still won’t keep me I cannot even eat/ drink without feeling horrible 🤦🏽‍♀ However nurses are nice but the care is horrible only had a good experience the first day I went with body pain but I didn’t like the fact that I was let go :/ and going back and fourth I know my bill is going to be crazy! Id rather pay for proper treatment / hospitalization.

My sister in law was given absolutely ZERO postpartum care and was discharged only a few hours after giving birth! Anesthesiologist was late and the epidural attempt was unsuccessful! Also, Sister in laws blood pressure dropped and nearly fainted after strenuous labor. She was later admitted in Odessa where she received a blood transfusion!! The doctors in Odessa said that they’re disgusted by the way she was treated at that hospital.

Due to our doctors being in Midland, Tx, we depended on the Pecos County Memorial for lab work that could be faxed to the doctor(s). These people are incompetent and never faxed info to our doctors, so now they will not accept anything coming from this lab. Very sad and disappointed in the absolute incompetence in this lab. Seems like they would understand that the doctor specified the fax number along with the lab work.

Horrible service I had pain in my right shoulder, chest and back dr.asked me if I hurt myself or if I slept on it wrong when I told him no he said it didn't make. sense finally after a couple hours they said ì had pneumonia gave me some medicine the nurse informed I was being released so they called my husband to go for me he informed them he was in midland So they just hung up on him so the nurse informed me that I needed to figure. Something out
