Indian Bluffs Wildlife Management Area

Area doesn't have designated hiking trails. You need to park mile before hitting river. From there , if you have good topo maps or know how to orienting, you may find amazing rock forming and huge arch. Creek flows through the gorge and you may hop over it several times.
But one should be very careful there, lot hidden cracks, falling rocks, wildlife.

There's only two campsites. The one farthest down the road is a grassy area by the river. There are hiking trails at both campsites. I would recommend bringing firewood and a shovel to dig out a firepit.

Beautiful spot to put in a kayak or a canoe, the river is knee deep almost all the way across. Seen some trails but didn't venture down any. I will next time and I'll bring my swim trunks.

This place is God's country. It's terrain is vastly diverse from cliffs to marshes. Rattlesnakes are native to this area as are several large cats.LARGE..... I live here year round and still get lost sometimes in its vastness. It's one of the last wild places in iowa. There's places to roam where no body has roamed before or set foot anyway. Caves, cliffs, sinkholes, canyons rivers and streams make up this wonderful backyard of mine. Come check it out but beware this is no state park.

lovely rare camp-fo-free space in iowa. nice put in/take out on the river. lotsa nettles. respect the locals.

Enjoy some of the best hiking iowa has to offer. Dont expect maintained trails, and pick up your trash.

Great little spot to take the kids to play in the river and have a picnic. Beautiful and secluded!
