Highly recommended. We had a multifamily trip planned down the Allagash River and had booked with another outfitter. That outfitter bailed on us 4 days before the trip. Norman saved the day. He was able to provide canoes, paddles, life jackets, and drop off, pick up and taxi services for our vehicles. He was clear, fair prices, and a wealth of knowledge. His employees were friendly and helpful. We had a great trip. Highly recommend Norman and his services.

Norman is an exceptional source of information about the allagash and was extremely helpful in our trip. Stayed at his place in st francis which was perfect for the 5 of us. Incrediblely clean and comfy. He is reliable and I would recommend him for any trip to the Allagash.

This is the outfitter you want to use if you're doing the AWW. Norm is a seasoned pro and one of the most likeable Mainers you will ever meet. His campground is excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I cannot say enough good things, from the already cut and dry firewood in abundance to the timely service provided by his team, they got us to our drop off at Indian Stream in a little over 3 hours which is what we expected. I hope to do the AWW sometime again in the future and I will look no further than Pelletier Campgrounds.

Norm is reliable, conscientious, and extremely knowledgable. Very glad I chose him as my outfitter for an Allagash river trip. He doesn't really do technology, so your best bet is to call him on the phone.

I called Norman at Pelletier's campground to arrange transportation for my girlfriend and I to canoe the Allagash River. He and his team were kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and provided an exceptional experience. When we smashed our fiberglass canoe in the rapids, he rented us one of his to replace it, which was stashed along the route. Additionally, he hauled our damaged canoe out of the woods for no additional charge.

If you're traveling by canoe in North Maine, do yourself a favor and use Pelletier's campground as your outfitter.

Norman the owner, was extremely helpful. The rental and transport went smoothly. Drivers were friendly and had tons of info and stories to share with us. Camping area overlooks a pristine view of the St John River. Gorgeous area. Thanks Norman for making our experience such a great time!

Norman is awesome and he and his team helped arrange our 5 day trip down the Allagash River. Perfect location. Stay in the house the night before or after you paddle if it's available, it's great value and has a shower washer, dryer and kitchen.

My partner and I had the pleasure of paddling the Allagash in the summer of 2019, and Norman & Pelletier Campgrounds were a tremendous help every step of the way. We camped at his riverfront campground on the night we arrived (with firewood provided!), discussed the coming trip (with Norman pulling out his map pointing out some of his highlights), discussed the coming weather for the duration of our trip, and helped us decide on a last minute change to our start location based on the weather. He even moved our car for us after we decided (while on the river) that the INSANE June bugs were forcing us to abbreviate our trip by a day. His shuttle drivers were fantastic and a joy to talk to on the 2 hour ride from the campground to the waterway, sharing lots of local knowledge. Can’t recommend Pelletier Campgrounds or The Allagash Wilderness Waterway highly enough! We will be back!

My Boy Scout Troop, from CT, has used Pelletier Campground and Outfitters 3 times in the last 15 years. Yes, I would go back there in a second. Norm L'Italian, the owner, is the most gracious and knowledgeable outfitter I have ever dealt with. That includes three other outfitters.

His equipment is top notch, the prices fair and the service is wonderful. His word is his bond and his attitude was a pleasure to behold. I am involved with BSA Troops at the District and Council level. I would recommend this company to anyone thinking of doing the Allagash River.

While I can't say what the campgrounds are like, I can definitely speak with authority regarding their excellent shuttle service. My wife and I took a 7 day trip through the AWW (it rained nearly every day) and at the end (when it stopped raining, of course!) we took out at the landing in Allagash Village. We paid our tiny fee to Evelyn and when we entered our car learned of the drama we missed out on while we were camping. Apparently, when Norman's 'shuttlers' came to move our mini van they found a tennis ball sized lump in the side of one tire. They carefully limped the van back to Allagash where Norman took it upon himself to track down a replacement tire (not just any tire, but an exact match) 65 miles away in Presque Isle. He did the 130+ mile round trip, brought the tire back and replaced it himself to avoid the additional cost of having Sears install it. For all this he only charged us a nominal fee - and the cost of the tire. Any other company would have left us stranded in northern Maine, but Norman is a true professional and a gentleman. Thanks, Norman.

I would highly recommend Norm for anyone paddling the Allagash. He provided late season (~Oct. 12) transportation for our group. Easy going, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about the region.

If you need to rent equipment, have your car shuttled, be dropped off, or any other service for your canoe trip on the Allagash or in the North Maine Woods, Pelletier's Campgrounds are the outfit to do it.

I'm the owner of the Jack Mountain Bushcraft School, a guide training and expedition company, and 2015 is our 15th year of working with Pelletier Campgrounds. Over that span of time I've had vehicles shuttled, been dropped off in remote locations, rented gear, stayed at the campground, and more. I've always been impressed with the level of professionalism, attention to details and friendliness. This is no big city outfit where you're a number. Instead it's a small town small business where reputation matters. They know the woods, have the gear you need, and the prices are competitive and fair.

Norman and his team are pros. They know the area and the waterway. If you’re planning a trip down the Allagash this should me the first place you call.
