New owners have updated the historic general store. Great place to grab coffee, lunch, ice cream or some cold beverages. Highly recommend!

Expertly curated space that you always pray is adjacent to your lake house or Airbnb. Don't miss the selection of local wares with a full service cafe and restaurant.

Loved what they did to the place after thy renovated the place. Went here a lot when I was younger and so remembering the memories and seeing what they did was awesome! Super sweet girl that was working when we went!

Our family has been frequenting food Chip has been putting out since he opened up a Deli in Boyne City way back when.

We have been enjoying the Tapas dinners at The Horton Bay General Store (aka Morgan's Restaurant) since it was introduced several years ago.

This year our family was celebrating our father's 80th Birthday and not only did Chip host 19 of us (16 adults and 3 rug rats) on a busy night, he provided a delightful selection foods for our sail on Grand Traverse Bay with 50 family and friends.

Chip cares about what he and his staff prepares, serves and how they treats their customers. Cannot ask for anything more than that!

Thank you Chip, for all the wonderful meals and service over the years and for helping making our Dad's 80th birthday celebration a memorable experience for all!

If you seek a quaint, out of the way piece of history, then the Horton Bay General Store is exactly what you seek. Old wood floors, creak with the history of lost foot steps of Earnest Hemingway and his family. Great food and souvenirs offer a unique experience that will haunt your memories till your next visit. Charlevoix and Boyne City are close with lots of other great adventures, but start here. You will be so glad you did. Love this place!

Another amazing meal at Horton Bay General Store. The salad, lamb chops, London Broil rival anything we had in Manhattan, Chicago and Detroit. Highly recommend!

Awesome breakfast! I recommend the eggs your way, or the banana brule. Chip and Tina are great fun.
Update: 8/2020: breakfast is no longer served here.

Great piece of Michigan history! Easy to imagine what the store would have looked like 125 years ago. Nice place to stop for lunch with delicious sandwiches.

Hemingway was from Oak Park, Illinois and spent childhood summers with his family in Horton Bay. He was married to Hadley Richardson at a church that stood next to the Horton General Store on September 3, 1921.
