While this place is a little off the beaten path (those seem to be the best sometimes), the staff here was so friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of history about the site and the Oregon trail, our boys loved learning more about it. It is a small fee (Very worth the couple of bucks) to learn about history of the area.

I just love history and being able to discover some history in regards to The Oregon Trail and Chimney Rock was very rewarding. Not to mention the gift shop. I swear I almost went broke because I wanted to purchase everything in there. You guys do an amazing job keeping history alive!

Off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. Paved 2.5 mile trail to the fossil digs, nice exhibits on the fossil in the visitors center. Bonus was the story of rancher James Cook and relationship with Chief Red Cloud, and a great display of Native American items given to his family over time by tribe members.

Visited on Labor Day, and knowledge staff was on site. Watch the movie, get the context. The rock formation was a landmark for wagon trains headed up the Oregon trail. Cant miss it
Clean restrooms. Nice gift shop/book store.
Signs warn of rattlesnakes, so stay on the paths and stay vigilant. Out in the middle of nowhere, but your gps can find it. Ample parking. Awesome, must see.
