Good: Delicious Flounder with pineapple. Melted in my mouth. Beautiful, relaxing music. Interesting eclectic decor. Very gracious and helpful staff, and quick service. Bad: prices were very high

Great venue for lunch or dinner together with friends.

Summary: Good bar menu and fully-stocked bar with experienced staff for good cocktails.
Food is fundamentally Mexican. Make a reservation.

Drinks:
The Margarita Classic was good, though a little too sweet for us. The Margarita Xalapeno (no, really it’s spelt that way) was the right balance of fresh cucumber and jalapeño with Tajin and Sea salt on the rim).
The Delbac classic single malt whiskey was surprisingly smooth and good.

Appetizers:
We had Queso Fundido and added Chorizo, and Guacamole (Hass avocado mixed with xalapeño, white onions, red tomatoes, cilantro topped with roasted pepitas, dried cranberries, pomegranate seeds and queso cotija) for appetizers.

Entrees:
We had Aztec Ribeye steak. Good presentation with rub on steak and cooked to perfection. Required the supplied sauted, pickled, onions and jalapeños each mouthful for fullest flavor

Also had a couple of the Mole dishes. The Mole Poblano was the more traditional recipe and the sauce was rich without being overwhelming. The chocolate was more subtle than I expected.
The other was Mole Coloradito Oaxaqueno; this had much more heat and deeper range of flavors reminiscent of more traditional Oaxacan cuisine.

Though this is definitely a little pricey, the service was exemplar, the food sublime and the drinks excellent.

Cannot recommend highly enough. The Stables restaurant at Tubac Golf resort did us an unexpected favor by their incredibly poor service today, pushing us toward Elvira’s for a fantastic lunch.

We had an EXCELLENT server. Answered all our questions about the dishes. Offered opinions about which dishes would be good choices. She attended to like we were super special. The chips/salsa was different but terrific. The guac was different than standard fair but amazingly good. Each of our dishes were wonderful & oh so different than typical Sonoran Mexican food. Our marg's were very special. The atmosphere was just over the top. So very different. We enjoyed every minute of being there. Just be sure to look up at the ceiling to see the amazing lights.

Wow! What a treasure. As vegetarians, we were thrilled beyond words with the options and the attention to flavor and quality. Vegetarians, this gem of a restaurant is worth traveling great distances for to finally find a chef that leaves you swooning with every bite! It's been many years of dining out since we have felt this way about a restaurant. Thank you to the chef and staff for your creativity and high standards of excellence in every area.

I haven't been to this location in several years and took a couple of friends for their first visit. I suggest making reservations as this location was busy for a late lunch on Sunday. The food and drinks were excellent. Service was a little slow as it was 20 minutes from being seated until our drink order was taken. Once our order was received, the courses were brought out promptly.

We had dinner here with a group of 19 guest after our wedding practice and all the dishes we're so amazing. The service was also great. I believe our waiter was Adon but I forget but all the staff attends to the tables and do a great job. The restaurant is very cool inside. You may not know it from the outside but you will love it once your inside and try it. Enjoy and I hope to be back soon. Thank you.

Astounding atmosphere, great food... 6 varieties of mole, have tried 3, all superb

In an area with very good Mexican cuisine, Elvira's is a notch, or two, above all of the rest. Really outstanding dining experience.

Excellent all the way around. Really enjoyed the green chicken enchiladas. Also the chocolate molten cake was amazing. Very busy but well worth the wait. So enjoyed the atmosphere.

If you are looking for outstanding authentic Mexican food this is the place for you! And the decor is to die for. There is also an absolutely amazing store attached that provides home decor that you will not find anywhere else.
We will be going back for sure!

Update - came here again for lunch with my family while visiting, after a hike on the Anza trail. The hostess staff seemed unimpressed with our arrival & that we didn't have lunch reservations, and I imagined part of the response was due to them not liking our hiking attire.

We stayed and Jorge was a wonderful server! His recommendations for meals and drinks and desserts were great, and his attentiveness and friendly service redeemed the poor welcome we received. The food was enjoyed by all - the appetizers were great too.

Wonderful service, food was great! The server was attentive and didn't rush us. The decor is beautiful. The decor shoppe attached was great to walk through, and I would love to come back to the restaurant and the shoppe.

When in Tubac this place is a must!! The food is a very upscaled southwestern cuisine. The best part is blown glass hanging from the ceiling. It's beautiful! 10/10!!

Really unique and super cool atmosphere. Food was creative and fresh. High recommend guacamole and their stuffed pepper specials. Molcajete was not the best I've had and not enough food, especially for the price, but it was still decent.

Went for an early lunch, no delays just great service.
On the pricey side but a great experience in an amazing setting.

Wow! What a fantastic place! From the decor to the staff and to the delicious grub - do NOT pass by this place. Great menu selection of food and drinks. We had a party of 20 and we all LOVED our meals! Staff was excellent and fast.

Wonderful food great atmosphere with excellent service. The staff are very knowledgeable about the food and beverages and make good recommendations of pairing food and beverages.

Food was soo good! Bartender was very helpful and pleasant. Had a queso appetizer and a shredded quick fried meat tortilla that was out of this world! Never had anything like it. Also had a very unique shopping area we ended up buying some things there. Highly recommend. We will drive 60 miles again gladly to revisit.

Normally we have a wonderful experience here. This time the service was horrible. We were sat quickly enough then no one came by for close to 15 minutes, I stopped a hostess to see who was going to help us. Our server came fairly quickly after that, we ordered 2 appetizers, another 20-plus minutes went by before we got one, and the other 1 came about 5 or 10 minutes after. The server never came by to see if everything was ok. We had to flag him down for the check and then again to pay. If this was our first time here, we would likely not go back. We hope this is a one-off but man it was the worst service we have had in a very long time.
