Hamlin's El Toro

Hamlin's El Toro isn't Mexican or Tex Mex food! It is Okie Mex, and it is delicious!!!! The white sauce is AMAZING! The flavors blend together to make a tantalizing dip for your chips. All of the food is flavorful, and the portions are generous! I highly recommend you visit here when you visit Muskogee, OK.

I had wonderful memories of this place in the 1980s and 90s. Returned today to see if it is as good as I remembered, and was not disappointed.

The food was great, the decor was fun, and the people were so nice. The daily special was a chicken chimichanga, and it was delicious!

My husband's aunt and uncle used to own this restaurant so we are a little biased. The white sauce is amazing! It is a nice restaurant with really friendly staff. They typically stay busy. There is an event space for parties separate from the main dining area. They have reusable to go cups and will give you to-go containers for your chips and dip as well. Gift cards are also available. We spent on average $13 a plate on the weekend. If you go mid week, you can order from their lunch menu and get a discount.

We had an enjoyable dinner that began with Hamlin's famous "White Sauce!" and tortilla chips! We had the #2 Enchilada meal which was excellent! We enjoyed the flavors as they mixed together. The chili sauce on the enchiladas was delicious. It would make a great chili for Frito Chili Pie too! The refried beans had a great consistency. The salad was fresh. The rice was nicely flavored, neither too spicey or bland. ”Go for the White Sauce. Stay for the food!”

What a great place! Food was good, service was awesome, and the decor was amazing!

I never had a bad meal in here. They still serve the famous white sauce from years past.

Love Hamlin's white dip, & the salsa is very tasty, too! I had 2 enchiladas, a tamale, a taco, rice, beans, & a salad. Everything was really good! Portion sizes are decent, and I could not eat it all. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Muskogee.

I've been a Hamlin's customer since they had the restaurant out on York st. And I get the same thing everytime -the chicken quesadillas. Some days I just get a real strong craving for one. I love em, I only wish they weren't $15 now 😭 The white dip is also good stuff. Hamlin's is not exactly authentic Mexican but more like Tex Mex or "Okie Mex" so have tempered expectations. Still excellent tho.

Listen, this place was a surprise. Unexpectedly good. The food wasn't 5 star for a larger city but for a small town it was really good. The wait staff was very friendly even though we showed up 20 minutes from closing. Their margaritas were really good and of course the white sauce. If you're in Muskogee, I recommend the trip.

Very good food....They brag about Okie-Mexican and it's just that! Yum as I left the place and it left me very anxious to get back there. The family members (live in the area) chose the place to eat on this evening and I was thoroughly impressed! The appetizer of chips and salsa came out with a white dip. Something Mayo based and people love it... The chips were hot and fresh and the service was top notch. I ordered some hotter salsa and it arrived... after trying it I was very satisfied with the flames coming out of my mouth. I wasn't too awful hungry when we sat down...so I ordered a chicken enchilada that was covered in the cheese sauce. It was awesome! No leftovers on this visit. I am super anxious to visit again and want to thank the staff for a pleasant evening with dynamite food!

Tahlequah OK Bandito White Truffle Dip:
Sour Cream, mayonnaise, milk, Blue cheese, Shaved white truffle, Shallot, white pepper and salt, in a food processor or blender! Refrigerated and served!

El Chico Closed in a pity lawsuit to beg the El Toro to stay open.
El Chico was owned by a real immigrant from Mexico City!
He employed real chefs and culinary graduates over the years
And supplied his own meat from his own farm in oktaha and never used the Wal-Mart down the road or canned beans

I ate at banditos, they closed in 2002 due to a bug infestation! I lived in tahlequah an for 3 years! A Bunch of Creek Cherokee posers own hamlins! I'm not a Mexican But I grew up on the hearth of the earth!
Their enchiladas taste like Banquet Frozen section mexican!
I haven't eaten there since 2018 trust me! I'm A culinary Graduate who met a very distinguished full blood Mexican man as a child named ponchito palaise, he created the churro, his restaurant ponchos is average now!

I have gone twice with different family members and we all really enjoyed. Their green chili salsa is fantastic. And of course the white sauce. I would give more than 5 if possible. So sorry for those with bad experience as service and food great

Hamlins is a great place to eat. The "white sauce" served with chips is excellent. Their dinners are good and the fajitas are awesome. Great drinks as well. Kitchen is pretty quick, even when the place is very busy. Wait staff has always been quick and friendly in my experience. Would recommend to anyone.

This was interesting. I last went to Hamlin's a few years ago. I've been going my entire life, but by a few years ago it had lost all it's luster: the food tasted microwaved, and the dip was nothing like it once was.
I'm happy to say things have changed. The food was really good and the white dip glorious as ever. The wait staff (at least who I dealt with) were super nice and welcoming, which I appreciated that night in particular. In short, Hamlin's still has it.

Great place. Gotta love the chips and dip here. One place been eating at since was kid and will always eat here.

A great place to have an event. They provided excellent service to all our family and friends and served amazing, hot food and drinks at the exact time requested. Dedicated staff ensured all were served promptly. Oh, and the salsa and white sauce made the meal perfect! Thanks, Hamlin's! Brought back many memories!

Absolutely loved our service & server. She kept a smile on her face and our Drinks full. Food was great, but the service was spectacular. Will be back again.

Every time my best friend comes from California. It's the first place she wants to go! She loves the' unusual white sauce!' (her words) I love the prices and the atmosphere. The wait staff is always amazing! One day I may have to move and if I could take any restaurant with me. It would be Hamlins!
