A good place for practicing shooting.

Starts at the end of a back country road, but totally worth a visit in the winter. The trails here are not well maintained and the chances of running into anyine are low, making it a great spot to feel like you're genuinely wandering through a forest. Wear hiking boots that can handle a little water as there are a couple creek crossings on the trail. Trail not ideas for someone with limited mobility or a bad back.

Believe it or not this is a hidden gem of a park. You wouldn’t think it because it’s so huge and how could anyone not know it’s there but whenever you go it’s pretty unoccupied. There are trails everywhere and lots of hiking to do. Just be careful of what time of the year you go hiking through because there are a lot of tics sometimes. In my opinion winter, fall, and spring are the best times to go.

Make sure you get your range pass before you come. It's not expensive, but, the only general store close to the park entrance doesn't sell them. There is a general store 2 miles down the road, but, that's the closest place we've found. The range has always been very low key and everyone has been respectful. Everyone has always agreed on "range hot!" and "range cold!" commands. The target posts are well maintained, too. 100yds max distance. Shorter range of 50 and 25yds, too.

Wow. Thats all i can say. When i found this place it was like a hidden jewel. Shooting and fishing in the same area. Top of the hill is a federal shooting range. You can bring Rifle or handgun. You can use almost anything out there. Just make sure you have your fishing license with you, it covers both areas. Then once done there gi down the hill to the lake. Theres a few homey holes there you just have to walk around to find them. My kids cant wait until we get to go again.

Beautiful place and it hardly sees any activity so you can come here and commune with God.

This is a beautiful and well-kept area of nature. It's rare to find a place that is so cool like this within such a short distance from place as big as Nashville.

It is my back yard. 22k acres of wildlife as nd trees. I see all kinds of birds and wildlife. Deer stroll over my yard almost every night. Wonderful!

I'm very thankful and lucky to have a place like this this is everyone's land . Know the rules and you'll have great time and more should do as i do leave with your trash . i pick up as much as i can without ruining my hunt but people are lazy and disrespectful to this amazing place

Having a great time here this morning, seeing plenty of deer.....just haven't seen 1 yet big enough to pull the trigger on.

Husband and I have been out here 2 times this month, very peaceful hunting but road traffic is heavy.

Preseason scouting for deer season and checking new spots. Cheatham is a beautiful and remote area and I love to explore it.
