Southside Tavern

Top-notch restaurant/bar you’d expect to find in a much larger city! Located on the Goldthwaite square, not a fancy location, but very laid back with cool details like a local black walnut bar top milled by the owners.
Nice craft beer selection. Our fried green tomatoes (maybe pickled?) were crisp (great coating), hot and tasty.
Meatloaf medallions were moist and perfect with great sauce and her salad was huge and tasty.
Definitely worth a stop!

This place was so good. We were thoroughly impressed with everything. I got the whiskey bacon burger and it was delicious. My wife got the Sunset Crunch salad, it was the best salad I've ever had! Th8s is a really cool place.

Best place in Mills co. to eat. Services is great and the atmosphere is beautiful.

Don’t tell anyone! Southside Tavern is our main weekend goto. Living in an extremely rural place, we’re used to driving 30 minutes to just get a burger and fries. Having Southside, 20 minutes away is great! Everything about this place is perfect for us. I agree, food, service and atmosphere like you expect in Austin, but without the Austin weirdos.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. People are top notch servers, friendly, relaxing hometown atmosphere, and the food 🤤🤤🤤! Try the Woafer! Bacon wrapped meatloaf topped with mashed potatoes and fried onions! Talk about slap yo momma good! It was the best explosion of flavors I’ve ever experienced. Take the drive, it’s worth it! Pics DO NOT do this justice!

What a hidden gem out in the countryside. We were traveling through - Thanksgiving travel and needed a spot with gluten-free options. Everyone in our group had one of the many burger options from the menu and hand cut fries....we were all happy, full, and amazed at this little spot. We had our dogs, and they were more than welcome there as the outdoor area was very comfortable.

Great spot we stopped at passing through town. Lunch was great. The lemon pepper wings were yum. Staff was great a handling a big crowd, props to the new girl as well. WE WILL DEFINITELY COME AGAIN.

such a fun & yummy spot! We were passing through leaving from Austin & it definitely has an Austin feel. Great service, everyone was so nice & the food was incredible! Had the bacon cheeseburger and the cubano and would 100% recommend! We will be coming back for sure!

One of the yummiest dinners ever—this was the Southwest Parm. Delish. Food is always fresh and unique with a wide variety, from my son’s favorite the “Trash Burger” to a delicious chef salad with turkey, cranberries, and homemade dressing. Staff is friendly and helpful too! More favorites—the prickly pear margarita and the to-die-for peanut butter pie. 😋. Cool vibes in a small town!

The pulled pork nacho fries are what keeps us coming back for sure. Get there early or service takes too long. They are awesome though.

Excellent quality of ingredients as nothing felt heavy, even my wife's burger. They have several options depending the cuisine you would like. As for service they were out of the beer I ordered, but the tender made a special trip to get a new keg tapped and within 30 minutes had the beer I wanted. Really enjoyed the live music as well. Great job, and great food!

Everything that is correct about society is summed up in this small town restaurant. Great food, friendly people, nice atmosphere.

I highly recommend the fried jalapeno appetizer... Saturday is Steak night and let me tell you this steak was AMAZING!! Stop in to Southside Tavern and you will not be disappointed!

Try the pulled pork nachos, wow! Excellent! In from philly and found this gem! Pulled pork sandwich with onion rings out of this world! Margarita was great!

My husband and I love Southside! It’s our favorite place to dine! The staff is amazing…so friendly and makes you feel right at home. Taylor, the bartender, can make any drink you desire. The prickly pear margarita is my fave!! But my husband says he makes the best old fashion! Our favorite dish is the Southside Poppy! It’s a salad with apples, pears, cranberries, candied pecans, feta cheese and any protein you want. I add turkey and he adds grilled chicken. But the poppy seed dressing is the best I’ve ever eaten!! We have tried so many other dishes and we’ve loved each one. The tavern is beautifully decorated and very cozy! Very clean and the coolest “water cooler” sink! You have to try this hometown restaurant if you’re in town or just passing through!

Had the steak fillet on Saturday special. One of the best I've ever had in 50 years. Wife had a salad which she enjoyed. We will definitely be back! Beer is cold also!

The BEST eating establishment in Goldthwaite, America, hands down! Wonderful owners that went and continue to go above and beyond for the little town. There is definitely something for everyone. Southside tavern will always be my go to place when in town.

Unbelievable food from. Hamburger to juicy steaks. Great homemade sweet potato fries, the thick ones. Really good Margaritas. Great service. We just moved here last year, but that will be our place to take our guests when they visit. Bar. Saloon great atmosphere. And think they may have music sometimes. Good old fashioned small town family restaurant!
