High Falls is an incredibly beautiful hidden gem! The best time to go is in Spring, when it’s warming up and we are getting frequent, heavy rainfall.
The main trail to the falls goes upwards and becomes a moderate hike about 1/8 of a mile in. It would be challenging for persons with balance/coordination issues and extremely difficult in places for people requiring the use of mobility devices as there is a good bit of stepping from stone to stone to cross a stream, and several uphill climbs where one has to stretch and extend arms and legs to reach rocks and tree roots to pull yourself up, and finally 2 separate metal staircases to climb to reach the top.
The first obstacle is crossing the stream, and depending on the water table and time of year it can be a torrent or a trickle but is never more than 5 or 6 feet across, with plenty of stones to step on to cross, but make sure to test their stability before putting your full weight on them.
After you cross the stream, you will come across a very strange tree that has grown in to what looks like a cross between a bench and a field goal post.
It’s important to note that High Falls has three tiers to it, so don’t short yourself on the experience by not visiting all three, plus the bonus I’ll describe at the end!
Just beyond the weird tree, you will encounter the foot of the falls that produced the stream you just crossed. This area is pretty, and people who are not familiar with the falls tend to think that THIS IS HIGH FALLS, and disappointed, turn around and go home. But YOU won’t make that mistake.
To reach the second tier you need to follow a rock trail to your left (if facing the falls) nothing too difficult, a few high steps and then you reach the first staircase. It looks sketchy and shakes a tiny bit but it’s perfectly safe. Once you reach the top of the stairs, you will see the bowl of falls, and it is gorgeous there!
It’s not deep enough to jump in from the top or anything (you need to go to Devils Den Falls for that) but it’s a great place for kids to splash around and there are tiny fishes and a sort of sheltered overhang on the opposite side of the pool.
If you look up at the top of the waterfall from this area you will see the mouth of the waterfall, but this still isn’t the place you want to turn around and go home. Again, upwards and to your left you will see another staircase that will take you to the very top of the falls. There is a beautiful spot there with a view you won’t soon forget. Plus, if you cross the steam, follow a faint trail for a few minutes past a fire pit, you will come to a beautiful overlook, that to me is the best part of the hike.
Please realize that this place is a natural wonder and a place of such peace and beauty, and we want to keep it that way for our future generations, so please, do not litter, take everything out with you that you brought it, and if you are hoping to atone for some past misdeed, a great way to start would be to bring an empty bag and a glove to pick up any trash that less considerate persons have left behind.

Easy walk to the first waterfall. Almost a climb to the next two. The water was pretty low as we went in fall, but well worth the easy access. (My wife made it just fine in her Crocs) There is a stairway to the third fall that was steep enough to scare the dogs.

Short hike to small pretty fall. Beautiful views of the forest and rock cliff side. Trail is to the right side of parking area. Follow and go across creek bed. Trail goes to lefthand side of stream. Look to the left side of first fall there are steps that lead to another fall. Many crawdaddies in the small pool. If you're brave you can catch them with chewing gum and a stick. Chew & stretch your gum into a worm shape..place on end of stick and fish away. Wear good gripping shoes, hiking shoes. Rocks can be slippery and lots of leaf litter but a very nice place to enjoy a bit of nature. As always take your trash back out with you. There are no bathrooms. Parking area can accommodate about 10/ 15 cars. Follow dirt road to parking area. Trail is to the rightside of parking area.

Stunning ! Just when you take in all the beauty of the waterfall, you can go a little further and find the ladder that leads to an even more beautiful waterfall, then another ladder that leads to even more water!!!!
I DEFINITELY MUST SEE FOR ANYONE THAT LOVES THE OUTDOORS OR CHASING WATERFALLS

One of my favorite, most serene places. Easy walk to the first tier with a rock step creek crossing. Steep, rocky and moderate climb to the upper two tiers. Worth the climb. The upper tier with the lagoon is the most beautiful.

Beautiful views, moderate hike with some steep places...good for kids 6 and up (younger kids may struggle in some areas). Several areas to access the water so would be great to visit in the summer.

Beautiful waterfalls.
We took our 4 and 12 year old. They did real well and were not bored. There were a few steep places were we had to hold our 4 year olds hand.

My husband and I camped here overnight and loved it. Very peaceful and serene area to camp. This is a primitive area with no restroom or facilities. However we Highly recommend.

Great little hike in the Talladega National Forest with 3 separate waterfalls. The trail has a few spots that have you scrambling over rocks, but it's not that hard, and worth it. Google it before you go and you'll have no problem finding or enjoying it.

Great place had a blast.

Hike to the falls is hard but not difficult we had several kids with us and we all made it with little to no issues.

Beautiful place to take a little hike and see the falls. The last time we went we took our Chihuahuas and they loved walking with us and sniffing around everything. In some places it can be a little hard to navigate so wear good shoes. We have been visiting the falls for nearly 30 years when we are in the area.

Really enjoyed the short hike to this beautiful set of waterfalls. Shaded trails were a cool break from the summer heat. Very pituresque!

Make sure to stop here for a hike! Our kids love it so much it’s never crowded and always clean. We come so often because it is right near our house so we always make this a summer stop for us.

Great little hike to the falls. Even at 72 and 71 grandma and grandpa made it to the bottom part.

From the parking area, it's a short .3 mile hike to the main falls. There is a stream you have to cross and stairs to ascend to reach the main fall. The main water fall is worth the short walk. During the summer months this is a favorite swimming area in the pool below the falls.

A beautiful place to visit, especially after all of the rain we've had. The falls were great.

Great little hike to see multiple waterfalls. Hike gets a bit strenuous towards the end going up homemade stairs as well...

Beautiful areas of this trail that could be easily missed as it's a little adventurous to continue deeper towards the main falls then up iron staircases (in the rear left) to head up to other portions.
