The Nubbin Creek Trailhead provides access to the Cheaha wilderness area. The trail leading from the trailhead follows a stream which cascades from the hills above. We turned around at Parker High Point (7 miles round trip), but you could choose to create a loop hike if you wanted to to bring the total mileage to 10 miles. Lots of interesting plants to view along the trail.

Trail was getting slightly overgrown in places but nothing crazy. If they dont to trail maintence by July parts of the trail will be bush wacking. Parked overnight and camped up at the Pinhoti crosssection camp site for a nice 5 mile hike (granted my app said I gained 1300 feet elevation lol). Plenty of campsites and creeks to fill up with water on the way.

The trail starts out generally level until about a half mile in when the incline really becomes noticeable. There are 2 good campsite close to the trailhead. The first side trail is downhill to a creek side campsite. The second side trail leads to an overlook of a creek. After a rain it flows nicely. You really have to look for the second campsite. Continue up the trail, cross 2 creeks and 10-15 minutes after the second crossing it levels out with a couple nice campsites in the area.

A very nice clean trail. Well signed and connects to the Pinhoti trail.

Great access to both north and south trails from here, with streams and waterfalls the first 2 miles.

Trail is not blazed at all. Mostly well defined but there are areas where it is difficult to follow the trail.

For centrl Alabama, 4 stars...for the same distance, coulda been in Smokies

When driving in, trailhead is to your right. It is not marked until a 100 or so feet in

Did Nubbin - Odum - Pinhoti - Cave Creek loop back to Nubbin. Just under 10 miles, 1500 ft elevation. June - very limited water sources so be prepared

Camped at Nubbin/Odum Junct (nice large sites) but did have a bear that hung around at sunset & for about 45mins after. DID NOT BOTHER OR COME WITHIN 50 YARDS. Reminder to hang your food and be aware. Lots of sites along Pinhoti offer great sunrise/sunset views, just keep water in mind. Did not pass another person along the hike.

Nice couple of waterfalls - which were either dry or a trickle. Gnats and ants were relentless. Ditto with skeeters.
