Blue Ox Saloon

This Saloon is a mini museum of all things Maine, a must visit if your from out of town!!! I had my first Maine milkshake ( milk and coffee liqueur) it was delicious 😋 I also ordered food to be delivered from Katadin Gen. Luckily the friendly ox owner had place mats, plates, silver wear, and dressing ( since KGen left out my dressing) The Owner, his dog Jack,and customers were all very welcoming. What a wonderful experience!!

The Blue Ox Saloon, is a cozy small town bar. The bartender and patrons are friendly and willing to chat with people from out of town. The decorations make for an interesting backdrop. It's worth stopping in for a drink when in Millinocket, Maine.

Fantastic eclectic little bar. Tom is a classic! Tom's dog will sometimes roam around the bar and nudge you for a pat on the head. Just a cool place.

Loved meeting Tom, the owner/bartender who's an all-around awesome dude. The Blue Ox was the only place in town open late, especially on Sundays/Mondays. I highly recommend anyone passing through the town to go check out the vibes and get a game of pool in! The Ox will not disappoint!

Tom, the owner/bartender, was just a pleasure to talk to and learn about all things Millinocket! This bar had so much small town charm and definitely was one of the highlights of our trip! We will definitely be back

The Hospitality of this place is above and beyond any bar or small pub/saloon. The place is a hid-a-way worth the trip to see and worth the time while enjoying the atmosphere.

Tom is a highlight of our trip to Millenocket. His hospitality is unmatched, and he’s so happy to chat and tell stories about the town and the history of the bar. The Blue OX has so much history and charm, if you’re coming through town you have to stop and meet Tom. We can’t wait to come back!

Went camping with some buddies up this way stopped in when the owner first opened for the season. We’re we’re the only folk in the bar and he made us feel right at home. Loved the bar, loved the drinks, loved the owner. Definitely the go to stop in town gonna have to return soon.

The staff were friendly to my family and I. We came back into town after a long hike. Not much was open but they suggested we order take out and found us a table to eat at. Juke box and pool table, wish we had time to hang out longer.

Best bar in town. Owner/bartender is a cool dude with good stories. Decor and vibe is eclectic and eccentric. Good music, pool, drinks. Highly recommended.

The bar owner was super nice. There was no food available at the time of our visit, however, he had take out menus from a couple of local restaurants that delivered and gladly let us have the food brought to us. In addition, he had a great outdoor space, and since it was a chilly evening. He started a fire and made sure it stayed going to keep us comfortable. The Blue Ox Saloon is definitely a place we will go back to on our next pass through Millinocket.

As far as the atmosphere goes, this is one of the best bars I have ever been in. The bartenders are nice, fun people, and it is worth it to strike up a conversation. The outside patio is nice, especially in the winter when there is a fire roaring. It never gets very crowded, mainly because there just are not enough people in the area for a bar like this. I assume the 4 or 5 regulars keep this place alive when it isn't summer, snowmobiling or hunting season. The drinks are reasonable, and there is a decent selection of beers. It is worth a stop on your way back from Baxter SP. It doesn't open until late in the afternoon though.

Tom is the man! Great bar and even better service! Atmosphere is also fantastic.

Great fun plus Tom also owns a hostel a block up the street that even had air conditioned rooms for AT hikers. It was a brothel in the 1900's so I had to stay there too. Nice indeed.

Fast service, great atmosphere and good drinks will have you feeling welcome and at home at the Ox. Pool tables, pianos and an occasional dog make this a must visit spot in town.

First time here after hiking Katahdin, we loved this bar, the place has something special! Nice drinks, tried the Liquid Marijuana and it was awesome! Thank you!

Fun local bar with a good beer selection and a great jukebox. Warm wooden interior with lots of great old stuff hanging on the walls. A Millinocket treasure!
