Siegenthaler-Kaestner Esker State Nature Preserve

Thank you Ohio for preserving this special place. It really makes you feel the awesome power of glaciation. Maybe we should promote Global Warming to prevent this from happening again. 8-)

Great place to see nature and do a little birding in Champaign County. Typically when my wife and I go, we are the only ones. Take some binoculars, bug spray (if in season), and enjoy nature and the glacial features!

Small, but beautiful and interesting geology

Small little preserve. Close to home and nice for a little hike.

Nature preserve with low attendance. Great lower and upper trails. Don't go when the bugs are out, they will eat you up

Great place to see nature. Not very big place to park. Usually you'll be the only one there. Enjoy the sights!

Easy trail that's surrounded by a fence, the views are great at the top of the hill/mound.

Peaceful and pleasant just walk around. Not been here in years, but nice enough from what I remember. Just nature no rest rooms or amenities of any kind.

Definitely a bit of a weird one. Worth it though. NOTE: The parking lot is grass and will get muddy if it rains enough.

only 8 mins from our home. Nice and secluded. Very pretty anytime of year. a must for those interested in geology.

This is the weirdest little preserve we've been to and we've been to many. Its not incredibly...long...but thats fine. It's a mowed trail in between two private properties.(farms) You walk along barbed wire in a big circle with woods in the middle. It was nice because its very open on one side overlooking fields and wooded on your other side, very quiet, no one else. We just felt like we were doing something wrong, or trespassing due to how its carved out. Don't blink or you'll miss the sign and you park in grass but at least there is a place to park. We saw a few deer which was nice. It's absolutely not a bad little spot, just strange but if you just want to enjoy some nature without hiking long trails a bunch, this is perfect!

Pretty neat little area. Off the beaten path. Takes a minimum of one hour just to walk the area. The pictures were taken 6/15/13. Plan on taking more time than the hour to be able to see the wild life that's there. No toilets or running water. the gate is narrow so be careful pulling off and onto the road. Enjoy.
