Cottonwood School

I can’t say enough about this amazing school. Both of our kids have attended the school. We have been active in the community for over six years.

It is a public school with a very small district that allows students from out of district if there is space. We have been an out of district family and it has never been an issue to remain enrolled. There is an out of district fee but we have always felt that it has been a bargain.

There are two main factors that set the school up for success. One is it is a Montessori school. I have been very impressed by this form of education. It allows the children to learn at their own pace and with a little more freedom than traditional public schools. The second factor is that the Student to teacher ratio averages 10 to 1.

I don’t want to give anyone the idea that the school does not have problems. Over the years there have been several issues that have caused some concern but the care and responsibility of the community has impressed me every time something has come up.

The teachers that have been there during our tenure have been wonderful to work with. Thank you Miss Kate, Mr. Matt and Miss Abby. We think the world of you. I would also like to thank the Cottonwood Elementary board. I know that your tireless work has allowed this small community to thrive.

When I was a kid I did not enjoy going to school. It always seemed rigid and in efficient. When I ask both of my kids what they think about school they both told me that they look forward to it. I believe that this is because they have been cared for and nurtured in a way that has allowed them to be individuals.

My wife and I will be forever grateful.
