Charles Bass House B & B

A beautiful bed and breakfast that's perfectly situated in downtown South Boston! The host's service was above and beyond. He makes you feel welcome and immediately at home. There is charm, amenities, and really good food. We loved having breakfast every morning and appreciated the attention to our dietary needs. We will definitely stay here again and encourage friends to do the same!

Our stay was perfect! John is a 5 star host. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in South Boston, Va.

From start to finish of our one-night stay, John took care of ensuring we had a great visit. The hot tub was ready, stack of clean towels nearby, lights were on to welcome us, check-in instructions were clear and thorough. Delicious wine and beer awaited us, with unbreakable cups for use with the hot tub.

The breakfast was crisp bacon and the fluffiest pancakes with good, strong coffee and a side of fresh fruit.

The house was still beautifully decked-out for Christmas, had welcoming music playing downstairs when we arrived, and very clean.

Definitely would return for another stay!

Our stay was excellent! My group loves to stay at Bed and Breakfasts when we travel and this was one of the best stays we have had! Excellent breakfast and John had delicious coffee each day for us which was much needed! We were in town for Blue Ridge Rock Festival and love to support the local businesses in the area! We hope to stay again soon!

We stayed at Charles Bass House in South Boston VA for our wedding weekend. The house is beautiful and sits amongst a row of other historic houses on Main St. Although we had originally reserved the smaller room, John upgraded us to the suite for free (!) since no one had reserved it. The interior strikes a tasteful balance between restoration and remodeling - charming Victorian accents, antiques and photographs interspersed with modern artwork and an outdoor covered hot tub. John's breakfasts were delicious and made staying here worth it by themselves. You can really tell that years of consideration have gone into creating this unique S VA experience, and we will certainly be back next time we are in the area.

This is a great getaway. We were pleasantly surprised. The house was very comfortable, clean, and John, the owner, was extremely gracious and a great host. The hot tub in the back of the house was great. We had plenty of privacy. I would highly recommend the Charles Bass House to anyone.

Beautiful old home with spacious accomodations. John had drinks for us when we arrived and made a spectacular breakfast for us the next day. We absolutely loved our stay and will return whenever we're in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at Charles Bass B&B. John was a wonderful host. He was friendly and welcoming. His french toast was delicious. Our room was quiet and large along with our sitter room. We would recommend this B&B to others.

John is an excellent host. The house is perfectly detailed and immaculate. John makes you feel welcome and at home, from a glass of wine to snacks and an excellent breakfast! I would stay again if in the area and recommend it to all.

Second time staying weekend of Sept 21, 2018 and reservations already made for a third time Oct, 2019. That says it all!

Well, 2019's visit was another wonderful stay. John is the consummate host, the property is beautiful, rooms are exceptional and the breakfast is superb. We'll be staying again for a night in September, 2020.

We go up to the area for racing at VIR - Virginia International Raceway. The race we were supposed to attend in September 2020 is on, just no spectators. I guess we could have cancelled our prepaid reservation, but why? We turned the weekend into hitting a few antique places and a trip a bit further north to the Hunting Creek Vineyards in Clover, VA. Always have a plan B!

This was my wife’s and my second visit to the Charles Bass house and each time has been an Excellent experience. John, the owner and host, makes you feel right at home in this beautiful, finely appointed and gracious home. High marks all around.

This Bed and Breakfast is gorgeous. The house is warm and cozy. The owners are wonderful. We had and great time and planning a second trip for longer.
