We stopped here on the drive down and hiked around for an hour or so. Beautiful mangroves and natural beach front. You’ll see lots of crabs and lizards running around. There are some nice camping and picnic areas around the park. Well worth the $6 for entry.

Beautiful park. We stayed here on our bike ride from Miami to Key West twice. The campsites are a little rustic and there were some rats scurrying around at night but we didn’t mind… it’s the wild. Beautiful sun rises!

Nice long stretch of beach to enjoy. They do not rake the seaweed, so you might notice the smell on a hot day with no wind, but the breeze blew it away the day we were there. They have a lot of rv sites as well, a d restrooms, snack bars, hiking trails etc.

Really nice nature trail, birds, plants and trees with incredible views of the Atlantic.
Nice clean tent camping sites with 2 sets of batrooms. All in all just a very cool place to explore

Great Florida State Park located in the Keys. Entry tickets cost $6 in 2024. Camping sites are available along the beach. Sitting at the beach and watching the Kite Surfers was enjoying.

Great place to stop along the drive through the keys and stretch your legs. Couple places are tidal so plan shoes accordingly or go barefoot like we did.

We camped overnight on January 15, 2023 during a cold front. I can’t speak to how the park is during other times of the year but I will just say this was one of the best campsites I have stayed at. Bring a wagon to make unloading your things easier because you cannot drive up to the site. Also note that there is one campfire shared between the campground. As far as rats mentioned in other reviews, we saw one little mouse all night. Maybe they are less active in winter but they could also be gone. The park has gotten hit by storms a lot and has changed recently so some reviews are out of date. The rangers were all super helpful. Only issue we had was the hot water in the showers was out. Also the campsite is along the trail so plenty of people walk by as soon as the park opens. Otherwise, enjoy the epic night sky, local restaurants you can visit while staying here, birdwatching, and plenty of sunshine and fun in the water.

Had a great (first) visit to LongKey this morning. I found it to have its own unique feel...different than Curry and Bahia.
As a bike guy, I found their nearly 2 mile trail (staring at the beach...not the trail head) to be a blast...three different surfaces from loose sand, compacted sand, to wooded trail...in less than a 2 mile ride...was great.
Of interest...no stairs...only ramps. Seems parks dept was focused on accessibility for all.
PLEASE NOTE - not sure if rules were observed, bent, or broken hitting the nature trail on a mountain bike - nothing posted.
ALSO NOTE - assuming bikes are permitted...this is a "take it slow" trail...hikers abound.

Gorgeous park and excellent camping site. This is a TROPICAL location, it is HOT and HUMID in the some months, but that come with the location. I visited August 2022 and did not have issues with rats, which was surprising after some of the recent reviews. Tent-only camping is available and the spaces are a decent size. Well worth the trip. Ranges are nice and helpful, and the restrooms/showers are surprisingly clean and well maintained.

What fun! Plenty of beaches and well manicured trails and a board walk to explore. Lots of gorgeous views.

Nice, clean facilities is always a plus. Nominal entrance fee.

Worth noting the camping area's all closed up due to hurricane Irma back in 2017.

We were down in the Keys camping and saw an opening for Long Key State Park so we decided to book it. We knew already that hurricane Irma had destroyed the majority of the camping spots, and that we would have to park and hike back with our gear to our site. We didn't know until after reading some reviews that they have a rat population. The reviews were a little scary to be honest but we decided to go for it anyway and I'm glad we did.
The campsite was clean and while it was quite a hike carrying all our junk from the car and up to the bath house, it was worth it. It was nice and quiet and really serene. Each campsite does have a picnic table and grill and there is a community fire ring on the far end of the campsites. Keep in mind though that there isn't much shade at the campsites. You are allowed to bring a hammock though which was fun. They also have a great walking trail and we saw a giant iguana just chilling in a tree so that was awesome.
They also have a pretty nice beach area with lounge chairs and since it's a smaller park there was really no one there.
The park rangers were amazing and very knowledgeable about the park and their plans for rebuilding the sites damaged in the hurricane, which you could see are under construction.
Now I'd like to address the rats. While there was definitely a healthy rat population here, by no means did we experience anything remotely close to what some other campers indicated they did. We absolutely heard and saw the rats during the night, but they did not bother us at all. We did not leave any food at our campsite, nor did we keep anything in our tent that they would want to snack on so I'm sure that helped. The other two campers that were there also did not have any issues. I fully believe that if you safely store your food in the car, you will not have any problems.
I'm really excited to see the new developments that are coming and look forward to going back again soon!

Definitely the best park I visited on my trip. Birdwatching, botany, great trails, sea life, and sunny hammocks and chairs just waiting for you to curl up and soak up some rays. What an inspiring, one-of-a-kind place. And yeah, the good trail is named after a spider. It’s worth it, I promise.

Pristine trail, but the beach was unswimmable for us. (Very mushy)

Great park to stop for a visit in daylight. Beautiful trails to walk through. Hurricanes are crazy. The Mangrove Tree Crabs are cute. Though parts of the trail were a slightly flooded, the overlook area was sadly damaged by the last hurricane and still barred off.

Great for a pit stop, picnic, and dip in the ocean. Can wade out really far from the beach.

Some part of the park is still in the remodeling phase due to Hurricane Irma such as the campgrounds, but the part they remodel is beautiful, so far it was fun for family time. You can fish without a problem. We didn't fish but we saw people fishing. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the park and its history. It was clean. The ranger was up to date with changing the beach warning flags. The park has two trails, a short one that has a history of Florida's locomotive 🚂 and a one-mile one. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to go to the long one because my children enjoyed the beach more. The only issue I had was the portapotty. It smelled, but the only reason I gave them 4 stars was because they are almost done constructing the public bathroom and it looks nice. Also, it not the park or staff's fault about the hurricane issue and permit waiting. From what I saw, they are doing great trying to make a fantastic experience for all visitors due to nature's destruction. Most importantly, they have a trash box and recycle ♻ box color-coded for the animals to stay away and for the smell to not disturb our visit.

Excellent state park which typifies the Florida Keys. Lots of beautiful fauna and native species. Gorgeous Rocky shoreline typical of the keys. Wonderful new amenities like hammock stands, horse shoe set ups. Very clean park, including the bathrooms. The campground is being rebuilt as of November 2018. Highly recommended.

Wonderful, clean and great views. Went on a light hike with my son and were surprised by the great experience so near our hotel. Would love to return and maybe even camp there.

We stopped here last September hoping to find some snorkeling, but there was too much seaweed. Lucky that we stopped, because there is the coolest short hiking trail here! Part of it is through water. It was unique and gorgeous. We had the BEST time! We are actually headed back now as I write this review to visit again.
