I just want to take them all home. Unfortunately we had found a stray without a chip. We took him there to be adopted if no owner claims him. Beautiful pup! In the couple of days we had him he seemed to be: Crate trained, house trained, lead trained, very social, no alert on my other dogs, gentle with kids, quiet in kennel, and healthy. Go by and see him.
Theres so many babies needing a forever home.
Foster parents are needed as well. They've taken in over 600 animals in the last 45 days.
Adopt. Don't shop. 🐾

I've lived in Aiken County for 25 years and this has to be one of the best expenditures of the tax dollars and the people that volunteer at the animal shelter. Friends of the animal shelter really make this place really quite a valuable asset. Usually when you think of animal shelters you think of misery and hopelessness but Aiken county animal shelter is a fantastic facility and the people that work there do a very difficult job and it's one of the best I've ever seen. And like I said if it weren't for the volunteers well I don't think it would be as good as it is. As of today there were 86 dogs waiting for adoption and quite a few cats. So come on down and change your life.

Elijah now named Eli…the volunteers are AWESOME!!!! I adopted a dog that was there for 4 months. I visited several times with various family members before deciding to adopt. They followed up with calls & offered training. The best experience. THANK YOU! We have a great dog. The volunteers take the time to know the animal & personality.

I adopted a sweet dog from here a few weeks ago. I have to say that I am absolutely impressed by the friendliness of those who work there, those who volunteer and the facility itself. They are loving and caring and the process could not have been any easier. They take amazing care of the babies there. Taking care of neutering/ spaying/ shots / heartworm testing and flea and tick and heartworm medications !!! I’m so happy to have such an amazing girl as an addition to my family and my husband, sons and other two dogs love her and they get along famously! If you have thought about adopting a dog or cat …. This is an amazing opportunity and experience and I’m so , SO glad I made the drive and adopted the most amazing girl ! Thank you so much for all of your care and love and fantastic support and communication!

This facility is top notch! We found a stray in Salley SC on our way to ATL for international flight and so had not much time to find a place for him. Their intake process was so professional and they even followed up later to let us know the dog’s family had come for him. Aiken County is fortunate to have
this facility and the kind people who run it.

Very professional, went to adopt a dog. They brought out a few dogs to see if we liked them.

We selected a dog and did a pet greet with our other dog and they got along very well.

Would highly recommend them for adoption of a pet. Also they offer surrender service as well.

The once anxious and timid “Ace”, has now become an amazing and absolutely loyal companion renamed "Rooster" since bringing him home! Despite his traumatic past and abandonment, I can tell the shelter staff showed him as much love as they could!

The staff even recommended him despite him being the "timid" and "passed by" dog there. The staff, shared with us how the found him and his temperament which was helpful; they also gave us advice and a bit of education with adopting a dog with an abusive past.

Adopting Rooster has been one of my best life choices!! As I type this, I’d love to thank you for rescuing my Rooster boy and not giving up on him. Enjoy these pictures of my forever good boy 🐓

I went looking for a small dog, twenty pounds or less, they didn’t have any. However I saw this beautiful dog, three year old Shepard mix. I couldn’t resist. Yeah at 70 lbs he isn’t a small dog, but he and I get along great.

Great experience here! We had been searching to get a second dog and every volunteer/staff member here worked very patiently to find the perfect dog for us! They allowed us to bring our dog, listened to what we were looking for in a second one, and brought out 6 different dogs to play with ours and see who was a perfect match. That is how we came up on our Sophie (Adopted as Skylor) and she is the perfect addition to our family! We love her so much! Thank you to everyone at Aiken County Animal Shelter!

I came across this shelter on Instagram. Just moved to the area last week. I have a dog now, but I was hoping to foster an elderly dog because they are usually the last to get adopted. Dogs are my favorite people, and I would feel good giving an older dog a loving home. At the end of my tour and meeting lots of wonderful dogs, I just may volunteer to go in and walk the dogs. And will still pursue a foster or adoption situation. This is a very nice facility, run by people that really care about these abandoned and misused babies. What is wrong with these people???

hello guys

They take really good care of the animals and do the best at finding the right homes for all the far babies. I adopted a beautiful black cat named Lancelot but my son change his name she Panther. We love him so much.

I've adopted three pets from this shelter over about 15 years, two cats last year and a dog around 2006. So, even back when they were in the old building. They have always been great to adopt from. They vet the animals thoroughly before adopting them out. Also, if your pet ends up there by mistake, they will know if you call up there! A pet I was sitting for was mistakenly taken to the shelter by my neighbor, and when I called, they knew exactly what I was talking about. And they were EXTREMELY polite and patient on the phone with the dog's owner, who was irate and irrational with them (but somehow not mad at me, even though it was my fault the dog got loose). I also have taken in a found dog to be checked for a chip, and they stayed past closing with us to get in contact with the owner, and waited with us until the owner came! Thoroughly pleased with everything I've encountered there so far.
