Do yourself a favor and meet up with Larry DeBerry. He knows so much about Shiloh and the background of the Army's and people involved (heck, he's related to many of them) and presents his knowledge in any easy, thoughtful, friendly manner. I have worked with guides on many battlefields, and Larry is among the best.

I stopped in not expecting much. I have just been driving and seeing this and that. This was the HIGHLIGHT of my trip. Larry was incredible. A walking history book. More than Shiloh. A very smart, funny, kind man. He even played guitar and sang for me! I might go back before I head home. I will never forget the experience

This was the best civil war site to go to and it's all because Larry is such an awesome guy. I visited from NY with 2 friends and Larry welcomed us graciously and volunteered to sit with us and tell us some of his many stories about the civil war and wwii. Such an amazing experience to sit down with a friendly Tennessee native stranger and make friends. So happy we came across this place. I hope to be back one day and listen to more stories.

Larry did a great job giving us very detailed information on what happened on the battlefield in Shiloh. He told us stories that we wouldn't otherwise have known. He made the battlefield come alive with his telling of how each side fought. Definitely worth the time and money!

We spent the better part of a day with Larry on a private tour. It was fantastic! He was knowledgeable, personable and really brought the Shiloh experience to life. A tour with Larry should be on everyone’s to-do list if they are traveling in this area for the country!

Larry Deberry is a local legend in Shiloh. Larry grew up in Shiloh, and has spent his entire life exploring the battlefield. If traveling to Shiloh to see the battlefield, define stop in. His museum has more quality battlefield artifacts than the actual battlefield museum. He will teach you about the battle more than anyone else, and give a unique perspective. Definitely put this museum on your to do list when visiting Shiloh.

My wife and I have toured many battlefields, and have had many tour guides, but none like Larry Deberry! His indepth knowledge of events and understanding of their importance is fascinating. We recommend using Larry! Give him the reins and turn him loose!

If you just drive through the battlefield you will not learn a 10th of the the history or hear the wonderful stories that Larry shared with us. Thank you sir, we will definitely return and pick up where we left off !

Shiloh is hallowed ground, and the National Park Service has done an excellent job in keeping these grounds preserved. The hundreds of monuments help remind us of the valor that was shown here by so many, while the cemetery for the Federal troops, and the mass grave sites for the Confederates show us of the sacrifice suffered by so many. The interpreter center has a small museum, and a video detailing what happened during the battle.
If you are trying to follow the footsteps of an ancestor and know the regiment, maps are available for you to follow. The NPS staff are also always ready to help.
A few months ago a tornado ripped through the park and brought down many trees, so keep this in mind when you arrive. It does not diminish the experience though.
