The Salty Dog Cafe

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon in March and had no trouble finding a table outside. If you have the option, I highly recommend enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery from an umbrella covered table as we enjoyed it much better than sitting inside.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful when it came to selecting something off the menu. With a place as famous as The Salty Dog Cafe, one would expect the food not to live up to the hype, but that’s not the case for this iconic restaurant.

I highly recommend starting off with an order of hush puppies as they’re nothing short of incredible. With a sweeter taste and paired with butter, these amazing doughballs will sure be a crowd favorite.
I also opted in for the Salmon BLT which was cooked perfectly and delicious. The group also enjoyed the Gator Melt which was full of flavor, the Big Boss Sandwich which was perfect for our seafood hating friend, and the cast net with scallops (which we expected to come grilled, but instead was fried).
Overall, our experience here at the salty dog was nothing short of great as this iconic location continues to reign supreme. We hope to visit again and encourage others to do the same!

Amazing staff serving 5-star food. Everything tastes great. The entire salty dog area was really fun to walk through.

Beautiful atmosphere. We were not very hungry but we wanted to try this place and relax for a bit. I had the hush puppies with honey butter and my husband had French fries very good on both

We had breakfast here this morning and WOW, it was amazingly delicious. We had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, French Toast and Belgian Waffles. All were the best breakfast we’ve eaten in a long time. The staff was all very friendly and service was superb. We highly recommend this establishment if you are in the area!

It's a really nice spot next to the water. They have indoor and out door seating. And the food is delicious! They also have their own merchandise/souvenir store, a t shirt factory, and an ice cream factory. Worth the visit. Recommend not missing this place when visiting Hilton Head Island.

A Hilton Head classic! The food is amazing and the view and vibe are so good! The staff is very friendly and helpful! They also have a great drink menu! 10 out of 10 recommend!

Chef Priyank was fantastic, he made great food for our entire big group. He went out of the way to make our food special by honoring our special request to add mushrooms. He got them from other restaurant specially for us. Amazing taste , great ingredients! He also served us with great desserts in the end! THIS CHEF DESERVES A GREAT RAISE! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Touristy place - you have to know going in. We were there the day before Thanksgiving and the place was packed. That being said, we were lucky to get a seat at bar, and received great service. What a great example of teamwork. Bartenders and kitchen were in sync. Food and drinks came fast. Our server was Ibrahim (forgive me if spelled wrong) and he did a great job. Fun afternoon - thanks to whole crew.

The She-Crab soup is a must have! It is amazing & will turn you into a loyal lover of She-Crab soup! I had a wonderful Caesar salad and the low country crab dip! My Husband had a monstrous burger. He had to use a fork & knife to eat it! There's really no way to open your mouth ide enough for this sandwich!

Out door area was very nice. Seated quickly. All of our food was stellar. The new-to-the-menu shrimp was fried with an amazing sauce. Some if the best we’ve eaten. The view was magnificent. Parrots around the corner are a plus. Our waitress was amazing.

I’m in love! This place was wonderful. The food was amazing and you get a hearty portion with all the dishes. It was also fresh tasting and my shrimp was cooked to perfection. Lastly the staff was AMAZING. It’s worth the money of a $9 parking pass. I will be back!

Great food, but more like an experience. With the separate parts like the shop and ice cream shop, it's like visiting an island by itself. Such a wide variety in one place isn't something I come across very often. I'm definitely glad we decided to come to Salty Dogs' Cafe.

The servers are very friendly and accommodating. Many are from other countries, and it's fun to chat with them about their home culture and their experiences in the US. If the westher is nice, i recommend you sit outside near the water and enjoy the scenery. We ate breakfast here every day of our vacation, and the food was amazing. I especially like their french toast breakfast and love, love their cheesy grits! This was a real treat for me because I grew up and still live in the North, so i don't get to have grits very often. It sometimes took longer than expected to get our food, but it gave us more time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and each others company. I also enjoyed reading the backstory on how it got its name (see the picture i posted) for the details. I highly recommend the Salty Dog restaurant.

Had an amazing blackened gator sandwich and even more amazing drink! Would recommend for anyone Passing through to stop for lunch!

If you don't visit here while on Hilton Head Island, you're making a mistake. A wide variety of dinner/lunch options for everyone in the family. The best hushpuppies you'll ever enjoy on this planet. Great dining atmosphere with outside seating as well as some beautiful views.

Attentive and friendly service, tasty food, relaxed atmosphere, large portions. Restaurant is located in gated-paid access area of southern Hilton Head so parking is free. Close to shops, trails, pickleball courts, etc.

Really cute spot on the pier. A little pricy but for the location I get it. Had live music which was nice, food was great. Classic seafood spot. They even have bug spray which smelled shockingly good. Would definitely come back!

Beautiful scenery and excellent food. I had the fish tacos, which were fresh and flaky. Due to a shellfish allergy, my colleague had the South beach roll which contained lobster and shrimp. She stated that as a Northerner, she approves highly of the lobster. The roll was lightly buttered and the lobster to shrimp ratio was fantastic. Be prepared to pay $9 to enter Sea Pines just to enter the neighborhood to come to this establishment.

My dad has wanted to check this place out for years now. We finally got a chance to try it and it was really worth it. The food was really great. The staff was very kind. The harbor area was fun to explore and was really pretty. The gift shops were fun and they have some friendly cats that you can pet, despite being called the Salty Dog. I would definitely recommend checkin’ this place out.
