We hiked section 8 of the pinhoti trail which runs thru Heflin. It was roughly 10 miles . Mostly a moderate trail, about 7 miles in you come to the Indian cave where we stopped to rest. The last 3 miles were much more difficult. We gained 1400 ft elevation on this hike. Great section to hike. There is plenty of water in the stream that runs thru most of this section. No shelters on this stretch of the trail. Be very careful crossing the road.

Turn comes up abruptly so watch for traffic, if you miss it there is a gas station to turn around at and try again.

Not the easiest access, but there is some sort of parking on the opposite side of the road. It is a little down from the private drive that you can see from the picture.

The parking area is large, but the road up to it is rough. It's also in a curve on 431.
