Great spot for breakfast! Friendly folks and delicious food. The white / wheat bread is homemade and really really good! I had the gyro breakfast skillet and it was filling, tasty, and very reasonably priced. That and coffee was about $12. The coffee was hot and refills plenty. Good parking and right off the road.

Great local dive with good food!
We had our dog with us, so we had it to go.
My hubby had the breakfast burger and I had the chicken wrap with homemade sweet potato fries!
Very fulfilling and delicious! Reasonable prices !
A good stop for good food

This is the real deal! We had a fantastic breakfast there. A very busy place, and no big surprise with great food and service. The home made wheat bread was delicious. It comes down to great people, thanks for a great experience.

First visit to Kortman's. Food and service were outstanding. Tried the country skillet, wonderful choice. Kortman's is known for their homemade bread, well deserved fame. I tried the wheat bread, wonderful. Prices were less than expected, another nice surprise. I will definitely return.

Holy cow! What a great little establishment! Fast service, fair prices, FABULOUS food! Their bread is honestly like a religious experience. I've never had any like it before, and to be honest, I'd come back just for the toast! Having said that, the veggie omelet was stuffed with garden goodness, and my date's french dip was bursting with meat and cheese. Honestly, this will have me driving from Alpena several times a month without any doubt as to whether it's worth the drive!

Like this place. Food is great, large portions. Had Pork Dinner and was loving the tenderness. Prices very reasonable. The servers are friendly. Would be 5-star except you can't use a credit or debit card.

UPDATE: Still great food! Farmer's Omelet was delicious. Biscuits and gravy very filling. Had to take a doggie bag home. Homemade toasted white bread is the best! Becky was a great server!

Great food! We had the day’s specials of homemade sloppy joes and beef stroganoff. The sloppy joe tasted just like my moms! My husband also had the hamburger vegetable soup and gave it a thumbs up. The waitress was friendly, efficient and helpful -answering my questions about the food and recommended a motel for our night stopover. We would definitely eat here again (which we may do for breakfast tomorrow morning).

On the road looking for a good place for breakfast. Out of the corner of my eyes spotted all these cars parked all around the restaurant. Said to myself that's the place I want to go. Let me tell you what a wonderful family restaurant. Coffee ☕ forever flowing. I had 2x2 , which consists of two meats and two eggs with toast I ordered a side of hash brown. My scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection without even me asking them for that way. Cuz nobody can do them the way I like them. The sausage links were the best I have ever eaten . I would believe that they were made locally. Let me tell you about the toast. You think you just going to get two slices of toast. In their eyes you are, but you'll be surprised how thick these are. And it's baked right there daily. Hash browns- there wasn't one complaint form me
It wasn't the fancy place but that's not what you're there for. You're there for the home atmosphere and the cooking. There is even communal tables if you like for everybody is friendly there.
I'm sure I'll never be back in that direction for I'm on a bucket list trip. But they were one of the highlights of my trip. That's why I'm trying to explain things to you. You want a good homestyle breakfast get your butt over there and eat.
My order came to $10 and change. I gave the waitress $15 very happily. The two women there we're working their butts off. With a smile on your face and the coffee pot in hand. A cheerful note was said throughout my visit. Tip these women they work for it. Remember they don't make minimum wage. They make waitress hourly wages. They work hard for those tips. That work to make you feel welcome now show your appreciation !!!!
Thank You Kortmsn's Restaurant!!!!

We chose it because it had a full parking lot. We had the specials and they were delicious. The cream of cauliflower soup was surprisingly tasty and more filling than we expected. My grilled bacon and cheese was a lot to finish, but the flavors made it impossible to stop. Also, the French fries were as tasty as I've ever had. The liver was done to perfection, with copious onions for her taste buds. And her mashed potatoes were real, with a great gravy over it all.

This was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. 2nd time here as I travel in the area. Reasonably priced, huge portions and their home bread is a great treat.

Best Up North Diner I've eaten at! Homemade food is the best! Wish I'd have had the pie; but I'll be back someday!

This little restaurant is so great! We're visiting from southern Michigan and love the atmosphere up here. The staff here were super friendly, the prices were totally decent, and the food was amazing! These days, it's rare to have such a great experience at a restaurant!

Came here for breakfast while camping at Hoeft State Park. Truly a gem, and so happy we decided to go out for breakfast. All of the meats came from a butcher shop in town. Some of the best breakfast sausage I've ever had. Homemade bread for toast to top it all off. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had.

Stopped on the way south from Mackinaw. Cute little diner. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Homemade bread is a great touch. The servers were friendly, even gave us a carryout coffee when we left.

We've eaten here several times over the last few years. Service and food quality has improved 100% as more employees were able to be hired. Hard times are passing and flavor and good service have returned. My husband had bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast. I had the cheese curds and soup, since I wanted to try them. All were delicious and a surprise since we weren't expecting fresh eggs from local farmers or Plaths bacon. All cooked perfect.
