We saw the theatre while having lunch in town the other day and decided to stop by for a date night. It is a single theatre and from the moment you enter you can’t help but admire its character. For an old historic theatre it is extremely well kept. The lobby and design of the theatre holds historic elements of a theatre while providing up to date quality. Popcorn was delicious and they had different types of salt, like garlic and ghost pepper which was such a pleasant treat to add. Theatre is surprisingly huge from what it may seem from the outside. Projection/screen is one of the best I’ve seen. Employees were sweet, warm, and friendly. I think I will come back to this area just for this theatre

Another fun evening at the Callicoon Movie Theater! It is a treat to be able to see a movie on a giant screen in such a historic building.
The popcorn is always tasty and you can choose from water, juice, soda or alcoholic drinks.

As a history buff I had to stop by the old theater in town. Showings are limited but try to go if you can! The theater is amazing, they even have real butter for the popcorn and offer chocolate egg creams for drinks. My inner child was born a 90 year old from Brooklyn so this made my day! Staff was friendly, place was clean, and the movie quality was excellent (the theater is old but the equipment they use is all newer and digital).

Always so sweet and cozy. I do miss having someplace to put my drink when I'm there, but it's a vintage sort of local theater so I'll forgive it that. Recently had an event for a popular movie with triva and a costume contest. They have a stage, and had a mic setup and it was really fun and wholesome, even with a mostly adult audience. The prizes were very thoughtful, and encouraged everyone to enjoy themselves rather than be competitive. Lots of people spilled out to the front walk and were talking to each other.

There's only one screening room, and usually it seems they only have one showing per night, but it makes it feel like a special event. But more accessible because you don't have to drive hours to the nearest big franchise theater. Plenty of places in town to enjoy the night out before going to the theater. More likely to talk to a stranger who was in the theater with you watching the same movie as you were, even, or especially, if they aren't a local.

Let me take a moment of nostalgia, just to say, it takes me back to when I was in elementary school and many of our class trips were to see movies here. I remember Tuck Everlasting especially, because we had read the book in class right before it was released.

Adorable cozy theater. In an even more adorable town. We went to see Theater Camp. A film that was shot locally. It was hysterical!!

Nostalgic, beautiful, well kept theater. Sound system and screen are up to date, but the theater itself is historic feeling. Makes you feel like you're stepping back in time a bit, but in the best way possible. Prices are reasonable.

Would love to see some more classics played around the holidays (Halloween, Christmas, etc.)....regardless, my husband and I will continue to return 😊

I went with a friend to see Wakanda back in November and it was a wonderful experience. The theater is charming, they have cool nostalgic t-shirts for sale, and it was like going back in time to a simpler way of watching a film with an affordable ticket (paper stub!) and an affordable snack combo. The large classic movie projector displayed in the lobby is also a sight to see unto itself. Check it out!

Saw "Tar" on Saturday night. First time at the theatre. Will not be the last time. This is a very cool old theatre with excellent sound. I highly suggest taking in a film and buying a popcorn to support this local establishment.

I love the theatre. The concession stand is absolutely adorable and the bathrooms are very clean. The whole vibe is immaculate and very welcoming. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Any of these 1 star reviews are extremely bias and you should not listen to them. The theatre is amazing and if you’re in callicoon and it’s open i recommend to stop by.

The Callicoon Theater is a great place to see a movie! The movie selection is well curated and I love being able to see new releases right in my backyard. As someone who grew up going to the Hippodrome in Loch Sheldrake, the nostalgia of a classic movie theater makes the viewing experience even better. There aren’t too many of these original movie theaters open in Sullivan County, let’s support and preserve this gem! The new owner did a great job of fixing and updating some key components while sticking to the integrity of the old school vibe. The popcorn is great too!

Perfect for a local date night! My wife and I caught our first post-pandemic movie (In the Heights) at the Callicoon Theater. The movie started on time, the picture and sound were great, and you could tell everybody there wanted to be there to actually watch the movie. Looking forward to catching more movies there now that things are opining up!

Love taking in a show here. Throwback to younger years when every town in Sullivan County had a movie house. Lovingly maintained, great staff, priced right, fresh popcorn all located in a great little River town.

Great time with friends for trivia night! We won 1st place! Yay! The food was great, the entertainment was top notch and well paced, and our waitress was on point. Thank you for a lovely evening. We'll certainly be back 👍🏻

This theater has been my first choice since the 1970s (when under previous management). Currently showing first-run films (as well as independent and foreign films co-sponsored with the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance in its CineArt series). It is THE place to enjoy cinema in a very clean, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Ticket prices are reasonable and the refreshments are numerous and always fresh. The owners are right there as you come in the door, not some distant entities of a chain cinema enterprise, and it is obvious that they care about making your visit enjoyable.

Awesome movie theatre. As good as it ever was. Nice new owner! Congratulations and good luck! Saw Rocky Horror last week. Very happy they were selling Egg Creams, but sad that they made it so badly. Next time in the city maybe stop at Veselka so you'll know what it should taste like. Use whole milk (or even half and half) and Fox's U Bet (don't skimp- 3 TABLEspoons!). I promise to buy them every time. Thanks.

As good as it can get.
A Quonset Hut movie theater (one of only 11 left in the US), big and round and comfy.
Popcorn with REAL BUTTER!
Only 1 screen, nice and big.
Excellent digital projection better than celluloid and with super duper sound.
Life is good here in the Delaware Valley Catskills.
