Wonderful family owned Hardware Store, I love shopping here. Personal friendly service. They have everything you can get at the big box stores an more unique finds. I picked up my new gas can an primer paint for my project, I like supporting local businesses.

They are very helpful! We love the small town feel of the place and it's good for a quick stop when needing hardware items.

Hard to find mom and pop type stores now a days. They do a great job of being friendly and helping out customers. Lots of times you end up spending more time socializing then getting what you need, they try to get to know you instead of rushing you out. Oh BONUS they do tool rental, crucial in a small town.

Only negstive the prices are very high can get most products 50-60% cheaper at big box, but I understand they don't have the buy power and I'd still prefer patronizing a mom and pop store!

Found this great little hardware store on the way to Lowe's. So glad we stopped by - completely skipped the trip to Lowe's. The owner helped me find exactly what I needed and was very friendly. It brought back the memories of growing up in a family owned hardware store that you could buy nails and screws by the pound. Hill Hardware will be my first choice from now on! They take credit cards, which is a plus!

I've been using Hills for 26 years. I always try to spend my dollars with local small business when I can & not with large chain stores. I'd rather help put food on the table of my neighbors than fatten the pockets of anonymous share holders in Timbuktu. Walter & the folks who work for him are good, kind, hard working folks who are always helpful & honest. They always either have what I need or will order it. It's a full, country, feed, seed, hardware type business that even rents out equipment & can supply building needs. I love this place.

I always check Hill Hardware first before considering Lowes or Home Depot. This family owned business has been a central part of Amherst VA for a really long time. The owners and staff are always very friendly and helpful.
