This was such a fun place, right off the expressway. Super cute decor (even the ladies room as you will see). Order your food at the counter, and then they will bring it to you.
I was so excited to eat that I forgot to post pictures of our dishes. I had a Hardwood salad with brisket and their house dressing, which was excellent! I loved the fried onions on top. Mr. M had pork, macaroni and cheese, and a corn muffin, + Modelo on tap made for an excellent meal. We will be back when we are heading in that direction!

Wow, what a great experience. Can't say enough great things about our trip here. Owners really seem to love what they do and it shows. Can't wait to make it back out again in the near future. Ive eaten a LOT of BBQ over the US and by far the best beans ive ever had. THANKS for an exceptional dining experience. Something we had forgotten what it was like. Only recommendations is to add sweet tea to the drink selection 😀

I usually don’t leave reviews, but this place is top notch! 11/10 food, service and atmosphere. Kevin the owner is so friendly and personable with his patrons. I honestly recommend anything on the menu and if you don’t know what to get, ask Kevin. He will find the best option for your liking. The sauces are amazing. For sides, you MUST try the fries! Thanks again for the great experience!

Johnny V’s never disappoints! I got the Mac and cheese burger and my wife got the chicken burrito bowl. Both were excellent! And they have hands down the best fries!

Food was fabulous. Get the beans and ask for the apple cinnamon butter for your muffin.

I took a party of 11 to eat at Johnny V's and we had a great time. The staff was warm and kind and the food was amazing. They had no problem accommodating a larger group. While they do serve alcohol, the atmosphere remains family friendly. I will definitely be going back to eat there and highly recommend this place. Portions are large and prices are fair.

Wow, is this place a great find! It's a foodie and family paradise at the same time! We had 3 generations in our party and every one of us loved the food! You can tell that this is a labor- of-love for the owners because each dish had a special little twist that made it theirs! Decor is very cool as well!

Johny V's was astounding. Forget famous Dave's or Logans. Johny V's has flavor dialed in like a good scope. Customer service is top-notch. The owner himself introduced himself tonight, brought us an app (superb burnt ends) on the house, and checked in regularly. The beer menu is robust with flavor. Kevin suggested the Lansing brewing company Amber cream ale, and it did not disappoint. Their variety of sauces was similarly broad and accommodating. The onion rings were also fresh cut and battered today. Dimond in the rough friends.

Inviting, fun and nicely lit eating space. Wide selection of menu items. Staff very helpful with walking us through process of ordering. While waiting for our food, Kevin gave us some history of the place and shared his passion for what they do. And they do it right. All appetizers and entrees were perfectly prepared and tasted delicious. Portions were more than enough. Prices fair for what you get. Just a short drive for us from St. Johns, but well worth it. Will be back for more!

Everything was sooooooo delicious. They have a system where you order at the counter, sit, and then your food is brought out to you.
We got Smokehouse Mac with Brisket, Loaded Baked Potato, Burnt Ends, Pretzels with Smokey Gouda Sauce, Fried Mushrooms, Coleslaw, and the owner even brought out some cheese curds to try that are going on the menu next week.
Everything was 5 stars. Huge portions so we had so much leftover... but took it home for dinner the next day. The Kansas City Sweet bbq sauce was so good. The ranch is homemade. Everything is made from scratch and it shows.
Can't wait to return!

Recently moved back to the area from the south and was severely missing southern bbq. Went there in hopes to get something close to it, and my expectations were exceeded greatly. I will definitely be back. Friendly staff, tasty food, and perfect atmosphere. I ordered the pulled pork with sweet n spicy bbq sauce w/ two sides of mac n cheese. I was bummed when it was gone.

Service was good. The owner came to talk to us. We were there to celebrate our Mother's 92 birthday. The owner gave her a complimentary dessert. He explained the menu and told us about his barbecue sauces. Food was good. We will be back there.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND eating here. Our first time eating there. We stopped as we were going from the east side of the state to back home (Muskegon). Perry has a gem with Johnny V's Smoke Shack, the ribs are smoked right there. The choice of bbq sauce, we had the sweet one and it was excellent 👌, corn, Cole slaw was homemade and we also got smoked Mac n cheese and that was amazing! I would say it only needs to have tea, both unsweetened and sweetened tea.

Discovered this place by pure chance...what a treat! Food was awesome !!!👌 I had the meat sampler and a side of mac & cheese. Great friendly service and the owner Kevin really makes sure customers enjoy their experience. Thanks Kevin! I wish you many years of success! For all you long haul drivers, there's truck parking across the street. Makes this the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal and shutdown for the night

Delicious! Waitstaff was super sweet! We ordered Michigan Salad, Pulled Pork Kicker, Shrimp Tacos and Sweet Potato Fries. ALL scrumptious! We have enough left over for another meal. They don’t scrimp on their portions! Highly recommend. I’m an hour away - I’ll be back! Johnny V’s is awesome!

Food was awesome
We had the French dip which the Au Ju was phenomenal!! Could drink it it’s so good.
All the meats were great as my husband got the picnic basket and he was very happy. He got the Mac n cheese and it was great!! Loved the crunchy topping, YUM!

My only food edit for the owners since I see them replying on here: The Poutine
It probably was a creative choice by the chef but the Taco Bell seasoned fries were NOT a good choice in my opinion. The gravy and cheese curds should always been the star in a good classic poutine and I’m sure the gravy is good but it seemed overshadowed by the fry seasoning. Also I love those cheese cubes and was impressed by them when I had them at a food show but nothing wrong with good ole white cheddar curds; and I’m sure there is a local source that would love to be featured on this menu item. So full edit on poutine is keep it simple and classic

First time going there on a spur of the moment whim. Delicious food! The fries were perfectly cooked and crispy. The pulled pork sandwich was great. Even bought dessert which was also incredible. Prices are a little on the higher side but the quality is worth it. Plus if you get there during lunch (open to 4pm weekdays) they have some great deals. Corn muffins were perfect! This will be our new barbecue spot!

Stopped off at Johnny V’s Smoke Shack to try out their BBQ. I ordered the Carnivore Picnic, and would order it again. Sides I ordered were delicious and I was barely able to finish everything I ordered. Everything was amazing!!

Great bbq, had ribs and my wife has a pulled pork sandwich, both were great. Hand made chips were a little salty but that's a matter of preference.
