Tammy's Candy Kettle

Quaint candy store and restaurant. Not a lot of seating so we had to order take out, as we arrived around 5:15 pm and all seats/tables were full. We got the 1/2 pound cheese burger which was the best we have had in a long long time! Cooked to our liking and to our surprise came with fresh cut fries and coleslaw which were also excellent! Very friendly service too from the lady running things! Wish we were in the area again tomorrow, we would be back for more! Thanks! Oh the building could use a paint job outside! Well worth the stop though!

Stopped today on the way back to Bennington from a hike. Seriously regret never stopping here before! The food was phenomenal, everything made fresh once ordered (not a minute before!) including weighing out burgers, making onion rings from scratch, and hand-cutting fries. Also tried the homemade candy and got some ice cream sandwiches to-go - amazing!
Owned and solely operated by a husband and wife, Tammy was the sweetest and most considerate woman. She took extra care to make sure everyone was taken care of and happy. You could see the pride in her face when we are the food and told her how much we loved it. You just don't get service or food like this anymore! Great experience, great people, and can't wait to go back!

Absolutely fantastic place. It looks just like a weathered house on the drive by, but you'll see signs and flags out. It's extremely welcoming and small inside. The owners Tammy and her husband are just the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet. The burgers are SO juicy and so fantastic! The corn nuggets are some of my favorite here. Absolutely fantastic food. One of our favorite places to go!

Thank you Google. Without it we may have kept on diving by based on the outside. But once you meet and talk with Tammy and hear her and her husband's story it won't matter. The food is out of this world awesome. Get the onion rings for sure. Lite batter crunchy and delicious. The burgers were great and everything is made to order even the coleslaw. Yes, it's a little expensive but you can't put a price on food made with love. They have a few different size burgers and it's hard work so they deserve a lot of praise. Super friendly and just nice to talk with. When you're within 45 min you absolutely should go. A big plus for using environmentally safe food containers. I didn't get any candy but that'll be the next trip. They'll have a website up soon but follow their Facebook page for updates on that. Good luck Tammy!! We'll see you again!

We saw reviews raving about this place and decided to stop in for lunch. We had the half-pound bacon cheeseburger, fried shrimp, and chicken cordon bleu. The food was delicious! I’m now obsessed with their fried shrimp :)

The place has a comfortable atmosphere and the owners are lovely. The food really tastes like delicious home cooking.

We drive past this restaurant a couple times of year and finally decided to try it with friends. It was delicious! We had the Montreal burger and the bacon cheeseburger with fries. The fries are homemade and you can't beat the burgers. For dessert they offered a selection of ice cream sandwiches in various flavors.
Certainly not a fancy place but the food was good and Tammy was very pleasant.

This place really is a hidden gem. If you are going to be passing by or have a chance to I cannot recommend this place enough. The jalapeno poppers, cheese fries, and onion rings are incredible. The hamburgers and Reuben are incredible as well. I ordered the Hot Mess burger and got the 2lb option which is 2 patties stacked on top of each other. The patties were cooked perfectly to Medium as I had asked them to be and all of the toppings were a great quality. Everything that was made showed how much Tammy and her husband care for the food.

On our way though to Kentucky we stopped for dinner. This unassuming business was part restaurant, candy store, and antique shop. First, the food was top notch. We ordered a variety of burgers, sandwiches and the fridge clams platter, with root beer floats. We sat outside at the picnic tables and enjoyed the evening air. The experience was extremely nostalgic and brought me back to when I was a child dining with my family at places like this. It felt so amazing to share an experience with my wife and kiss. Tammy was extremely personable and friendly. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by for a true genuine good feeling experience.

Once again Tammy's Candy Kettle knocked it out the park. I really don't think there's a better cheeseburger in the 518. I'm not saying it's the best but I don't know that there's one better. If you do, please point me in the direction. I've had a lot of them. I don't know there's a better onion ring in the world. These things are smack! This was a small order of onion rings. A triple cheese 3/4 lb bacon burger. As well as a 3/4 lb hot mess Burger. I also got a cup of chili to warm up when I first got there. As always everything was delicious. The only thing better than the food is Tammy's personality. Talk about the sweetest lady. I've lived in this area for nearly 45 years and only started going recently. Boy do I regret that. As Tammy said herself they are the perfect example of don't judge a book by the cover. I tell people about this place and they doubt me and question me. Then they try it. So far everybody's agreed. Again if you haven't been here next time you're driving up rt 7 heading towards VT don't pass up the opportunity to eat here. Just an FYI this is a true mom and pop operation. It is Tammy and her husband. Don't expect stuff to come out of the kitchen in 10 minutes. A lot of love is put into the food.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE place! The food was to die for, especially the Onion Rings! The 2 owners are two of the Sweetest people. I felt like there Family...

We stopped here out of the blue, what a wonderful surprise! The owners do everything and make you feel like home! All the food is fresh scratch made and cooked so well. The burgers ...are the best I have had in a long time! Fresh beef, perfectly pattied, (they offer patties from 0.5 lbs to 2 lbs! Fire grilled ... juicy, flavorful, not greasy, cooked perfectly. Even the lettuce, tomato, cheeses and sauces are delicious! The fries are fresh cut and tasty. Cole slaw is sweet and refreshing!
Their ice cream sandwiches and chocolates and candies make a great dessert.
Highly recommend!

Beyond adorable. This cute place is a perfect stop when driving through. Clean bathrooms, fresh coffee and outstanding homemade chocolates. Tammy is super friendly and made us wish we were passing back through for a full meal.

Disappointed we hadn't stopped here soon. Our ENTIRE experience at Tammy's was absolutely amazing food,service,and atmosphere. Literally the best burger I have ever eaten EVER!!!! It is an exquisite diamond in the rough. We look forward to becoming your favorite regulars.

My Fiancé and I stopped here on our way home from Vermont. We noticed the giant “Charbroiled Burgers” sign on our way to Vermont and spent the weekend talking about how we had to stop there and try the burgers on our way home. We had a feeling this place was a hidden gem and we were right!

The burgers are incredible. I got the smaller 1/4lb bacon cheese burger and he got the 1/2lb Montreal Burger with hand cut fries. These were the best burgers we have ever had!

Even better, everything is incredibly fresh. They don’t use pre-formed patties that sit in the fridge or freezer until needed. We ordered and Tammy’s husband, who cooks, pulled out the ground beef and made them from scratch on the spot. The same goes for the fries. Fresh cut potatoes for every order.

So yeah, you might wait a bit but the wait is worth it for the freshest and most delicious burgers and fries!

Tammy is so sweet too. It was an absolute pleasure chatting with her while we waited for our food. We’ll be back again if we’re ever in the area!

Amazing food quality, selection, and value. I had the Cajun burger but everything my group of 10 had looked awesome. Owners are incredibly hospitable and kind. /The/ ideal place to stop after a long drive.

My wife, myself, and our friend Mike stopped by on a whim after a weekend of camping and were not disappointed! We got there just as they opened on a Sunday. Tammy and Charlie were super friendly and helpful. The burgers...! Mike and I had half pounders, and my wife had a quarter pounder. They were cooked exactly to order and were juicy and fill of char grilled flavor. The french fries were probably potatoes until we put our orders in. So tasty! They make burgers up to two pounds, and I'll probably go for a 3/4 or 1 pounder next time we go. Totally reasonable prices too
The outside of the building is unassuming, but definitely go in and say hi to Tammy and Charlie and try a burger, you won't be disappointed!

Food was delicious and the owner was very friendly. The onion rings were superb (they were approved by one of my friends who doesn't even like typical onion rings)!
One small note though: if you're looking for a place with very quick service, this place is not for you, though.
That being said, if you're willing to wait a bit for amazing food, definitely plan to stop at Tammy's Candy Kettle! 😊💛

We stopped here on our road trip back home. The reviews looked incredible. We had a beyond amazing experience here! Tammy was the sweetest and our burgers were absolutely incredible. Best burgers both of us have ever had. They tasted so so good, extremely good quality meat, and cooked perfectly. (We got them cooked medium) We had such nice convos with the folks that were sitting around us. Such a cute spot and a great experience. Highly recommend!

Finally stopped for a bite to eat new years day. From the outside, you wouldn't know it but this place is nice and comfy. The owner is very personable and attentive. Food was very good... even offers 2lb burger! We had 2 sodas, bacon cheeseburger, rodeo burger, sweet potato fries and mozz sticks. Bill came to $45. I'd rather spend that on a mom and pop place like this then a chain eatery. There is limited seating and they adhere to first come first serve. While we were there, a family of 4 walked in and were told there would be about an hour wait as they had taken quite a few phone pick up orders. It seemed to be only Tammy(?) working when we were there as I didn't see anyone else. She explained her husband had a stroke and had no use of one side so orders were done as quick as possible. If you're driving on rt7, drop by.
